Looking to possibly check this out this year. Anyone with past experiences of attending this event?
Also any other things to do this holiday season outside of this event and Chirstmas in the Oaks?
Looking for different Ideas that we may have no experienced.
TIA!!
Above is the schedule for this Saturday that we are thinking about maybe going to.

It used to be pretty wild. They've toned it down and made it a lot more family friendly now. The fireworks show is legit.

Both my parents are from there, and my grandfather is a past mayor. Owned a bed and breakfast before he died. His place was right on the parade route, so that's where we hung out most of the time.
At night, walk down to front street and just hang out. Watch the firework show. During the day, get a meat pie and go see all the historical places Natchitoches has to offer. Don't tie yourself down with events, just roam around and hang out.

Had a great time the one and only time that I went. Knew some people that got me a wristband to get into one of the "parties". Free beer and food. It was a good day.

Just went this past saturday. Huge crowd due to the Thanksgiving Holiday. Should be better the next few weekends. Get meat pies from Laysons. Stay away from Mama's for drinks. $10 for a weak jack and coke was ridiculous.

I'll be up there this weekend killing some woodies and deer.
Pretty sure we're going to check out the festival as well. Natchitoches is always a good time.

Can admission armbands be purchased online? I'd hate to drive 4 hours and not be admitted

Would love to check this out! Unfortunately I'll already be out of town this weekend. How is Natchitoches on other weekends? Will they still have plenty of lights and what not?

My wife and I had our first date there. The colder the better. It's adds to the atmosphere.

Do they do fireworks every weekend? I have work this weekend.

I would suggest arriving as early as you can if you decide to come. Parking/traffic can get a little crazy as the day goes on - small town and a lot of streets in the downtown area will be closed once it gets close to time for the parade.

Any decent hotels in walking distance? I'd love to take the wife and daughter to this.

If you don't have a hotel room already booked, plan on driving a long way to find one (or all the way back home). I'll be there. I think I have been to 25 of the last 27. It's fun.
Be aware- there is no outside alcohol allowed. There are a handful of bars in the area where they have the festival, so you can buy from there. All the restaurants and bars will be packed though. Just be aware of that. The fireworks show is always great. If coming from the South, get off south of town onto hwy 1 (cypress/flora exit I believe) or you'll never get across the river.

It is a great event, especially if you have children.
If you have time, drive two hours to Santa Land, a drive through Xmas light park which is near Tyler, Texas. Your kids will love it.

You'll enjoy it...I miss it. Marched in the parade jr and sr yrs of HS (JROTC)...had a blast! Ditto on the driving directions and watching out for Natchez...LA1 is pretty much a speed trap from one end of the state to the other
