What grain do you shoot for white tail deer hunting?
Posted on 11/30/14 at 11:07 pm to zx24
150 grain Remington Core Lokt

the glorious thing about the 30-06. by far the widest range of available loads. you can shoot a 125 grain SST from hornady and still have solid whitetail killing power out to ~250yds. lots of people come in for 150s

165. They were out of 150 so I bought 2 boxes of 165 and my gun loved them so I never changed.

how you liking that suppressor?

I've used 150 gr, 165 gr and 180 gr and the deer could never tell the difference. Try a couple brands of each weight and use the one that groups the best in your rifle and you will be just fine.

Thanks for the responses. I was sighting my new rifle in this weekend and the range master recommended 150 grain instead of the 180 grain I was shooting. That seems like the popular choice I will go ahead and give that a shot.

federal premium 165 gr boat tail power points
i tried some of the polymer tip bullets a few yrs ago and did care for the way they performed on impact. however, they do shoot flat
i have played around with 220 gr remington core-lockt. they kick more and you loose some range, but they can really penetrate. i blasted through 3 hogs in one shot and all hogs were +100#. that was FUN.
