I normally don't post on here much but am a long time lurker and figured I could use as many prayers as possible.

My grandfather has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease for the past five years or so and its been very tough watching his mind go. He was rushed to ER a few days ago because he had a stroke and since he has been moved to a hospice without nutrition because he didnt want to be kept alive on a feeding tube. So its basically just a matter of time.

Please keep my family in your prayers my mother got very depressed when her mother and step mother passed. She and I have been extremely close and I really hope she doesnt get depressed since we kinda know its just a matter of time. Please pray for her and my family.

Updated: My grandpa has passed and hes now in a better place watching over us.
TLDR Please keep my mom and family in your prayers!

My thoughts and condolences are with you. I had to watch my maternal grandfather suffer in the same manner. It's not easy, by any means, but at some point it is better for them to pass on than to exist as someone that is a shell of their former selves.

my grandmother went kinda the same way through hospice.

no matter how prepared you and your mother may be for this, death is never easy.

take care of yourself and her through this tough time. best wishes for you all.

Best of luck to you man. Y'all are in my thoughts and prayers. I'm beginning to go through something similar with my grandpa. He's in the early stages of dementia, but it's not bad yet. I've heard horror stories about the disease but this will be my first experience with it first hand.

Make it time we'll visited.

This exact same thing happened to my grandmother three months ago. With your permission I'll give a few details on what to expect and times to do certain things.

Tough way for your Pow Pow to go. But that's a tougher way to stay. Keep that in mind and hang tough. He will be better off soon. Thoughts and prayers.

Prayers for you and your family, man. I lost 3 of my 4 grandparents in the last 4 years. The one I lost in April was the toughest. Great, great man. Just try to focus on the good times. Be thankful for the times you had. And be strong for your mom.

After a couple months of being in the hospital, my grandfather got to go home for his final 36 hrs thanks a to home hospice. I'll never forget my last words to him (he was barely able to even mumble a word). As I was saying goodbye to him for (what I thought and hoped was only) the night, I told him I loved him and then I cracked a little joke as I was turning to leave that actually brought a smile to his face. That smile will forever be ingrained in my memory. He passed about 6 hours later.

went through the same with my Dad, death is a relief to the family, and affords the opportunity to move forward, Alzheimer's has got to be the cruelest of diseases, good luck

The ones that go so unexpectedly are the worse.

When I lost my grandmaw, she had suffered a long while. Although still hard to accept she was gone, it was easier knowing she wasn't hurting anymore. We also had time to deal with it before she finally did pass away.

I thought I would have handled it better than I did, but I broke down like a huge baby at the funeral.

my mom died exactly a year ago from Alzheimer's. Per her actions with her own mother and family wishes, when she was unable to eat and drink (swallowing mechanism quit) we cut off everything but comfort drugs. my only regret is that she lasted from thursday morning until monday afternoon.

I lost my mother completely 18 months before she died. the grieving process lasted probably 5 years, and in the end we felt mostly relief.

it's a tough journey. I feel for you
