They fit, showed the loneliness that carol had to deal with during her exile. How she still never turned her back on the people she cared for.
I would like to see some flashbacks though with old cast. Maybe T dog using the church van to rescue Glenn.
A little dale, Andrea, merle, Amy and Shane. Etc.
Would also like to see what Morgan is up to.
Episode was fine imo

I really think this was an average episode.
I'd have to say it was pretty solid...7/10.
After the first 2 episodes this season, I knew there would be a fall off in action...they couldn't keep that pace and stay on budget.
As others have said, the character development is really needed at this time. They have added so many new faces and we don't know jackshit about them.
Last point, an average episode of TWD is better than 99% of the other crap on TV.

The only problem I have with this episode is that it could have been told in 30-45 minutes. I understand the need for dramatization, but it was really stretched out, needlessly so (in my opinion).
And I think - having them two alone without a bit of sexual chemistry - the creators are setting it up to have Daryl catch the ghey.

If they were going to hook up, I think that would have happened already. They obviously have a lot of feelings for each other, but maybe that just isn't in the cards. I wouldn't be upset if Daryl was gay, but maybe he is hot for Beth. They kind of had something going on. Would suck if he was gay, he has like 4 single women he could go after (Beth, Carol, Michonne or Sasha on the rebound). I don't think any other guy is gay (maybe the priest?), so slim pickings..

Everybody wants Daryl and Carol to hook up but I think he thinks of her as a mom figure. When the book about surviving child abuse fell out of his bag he had a look of embarrassment on his face. The way he talks to her is very mother-son-like rather than I'd-like-to-get-in-your-pants-like.

I agree about the mother-son vibe between Carol and Daryl. I've also wondered if he was the victim of sexual abuse by his father at some point, and that's why we don't see him hooking up with any of the LLOTA. Doubt they go there in the show though.

And that would certainly explain why he's so protective of Beth.

I thought it was a very good episode. I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did. Mostly, I was kind of leery of having a 3rd straight episode away from the core group. But I thought it was executed very well. I enjoyed seeing Atlanta and there was good tension throughout the episode.
I did think the flashbacks were a tad too long/frequent. And of course I'd still like to see a different threat than the "evil human group of the week"

Carol did say something to him when they first got to the prison. Something like, do you want to go make out? I thought they were a couple at that time. But it didn't really go anywhere. Then she was really pissed at him, when he went with his brother instead of coming back. Then when she left, he was pissed. Just never seemed to get on track..

See, I disagree. I think he looks at her as his equal. She is a strong, tough survivor like him, and because of that maybe he'll never feel romantic love for her.
But they do have a chemistry that is based on mutual respect.
If the show does turn him gay, the fallout from the women on the internet will be epic. That said, I don't see them turning him gay.

For those complaining about the pacing, the issue is too many commercials. I DVR the show and watch it at halftime of SNF. When you fast forward through all the commercials there is only about 35 minutes of actual show and the pacing moves along just fine.

I really like this season due to the wide variety of film locations - rural woods, downtown ATL, small towns, camp sites, highways, cars, etc. The episodes don't necessarily focus around a prison, farm, large metro area, etc. It's very well rounded
I'm done with the nit picking of the ZA and more concerned with the scenery.
So far so good IMO

Why is Rick still wearing his wedding ring in that picture?
And is that a bullet that is right beside his right shoulder?

Carol is without a doubt a mom figure. I mean look at her. She has a mom haircut and grey hair.
Beth is the attractive love interest. If they decide to go there with Daryl. They might not. Everything doesn't need to come back to romance, especially in the ZA.

Rick couldn't hit shite if he was shooting like that in real life.

Beth is like what, 16 or 17, and Daryl is like what, in his mid-30s at least (he looks closer to mid-40s, but I doubt the character is actually that old)? I don't see them ever going with a Daryl/Beth hookup.
Now a Beth and Noah hookup, that I could see.
