Then why mention being homeless...

I think you are full of shite. On top of that I think you are using someone that is real with real issues to gain some type of weird sympathy/attention for yourself. Which is pretty fricking shitty, imo.

Hotel to hotel off Hotwire.com 4 days at a time out a suitcase when I can afford a hotel room isn't the same thing as consistently staying in the same room of a place. Think what you want. Asking is better then wondering but not saying anything anyway.

I thought that too, then I went into his post history. I think he's legit.

Sadly he is legit, dude has it rough. The only thing more fricked up than his disability is his plan to ruin the tech industry by having them hire more shite workers! I don't think he understands you have to be intelligent to work in Silicon Valley!

I appreciate all the support lsu480. I'm certainly not here to stage a debate, but I believe we cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them. I believe that for everything. Thanks for the advice everyone.

No problem. I mean the reasons that the tech industry #s are the way they are is because that industry only hires the absolute smartest people, and the majority of the people with the highest IQs are Asians and White People. Its not racist, its science. There are obviously some black and mexican people who are just as smart, as you can see on the chart, but no amount of "awareness" is going to start getting large #s of blacks and mexicans hired at companies like Google and Twitter.

I like your ambition, I just think you should find a more realistic cause. Maybe try to raise $ for a HS that teaches web development in the inner cities and then connect them with local minority businesses so they can design their websites. Stuff like that is totally doable, realistic and would actually make a difference to those races.

This cant be real.

All of this and you lived with 3 NFL players. One of them won't help you out. Your family wont help you out? They all let you be homeless? You dont have money from your book?

That's an excellent idea about raising $ for high schools. I just want to add real quick that I am not looking for equal outcomes, or to get "large #s of Blacks and Mexicans hired at companies like Google and Twitter."

What I am trying to do is play a part in making sure equal opportunities exist for the smartest and most passionate. My ambition of all those muffins may be unrealistic but we'll see. Silicon Valley is a big place. I'm speaking to more than Google and Twitter.

The money I made from my book is not life changing money, and that's completely fine because I did not write and publish a book to become a big name author. I am not the first person, or the last person, to go through a tough time in life. I only wanted others to share advice of what they did during a tough time in their life. Many here have shared great advice. Friends and family do help me out, of course, but I don't take handouts. Again, all I wanted was experience on how to deal with stress and uncertainty. Thanks.

Pardon me if this comes off crass, but why choose tech diversity as your personal crusade and where the frick did a muffin party idea come from? I thinks it's noble to want to make the world a better place but surely there are more pressing matters and more effective ways of going about solving them.

I'm not mocking your goals but I do think they could use a reality check

1) Contact TheChive.com
2) Tell them about your book, your issues, your plan, and what you want to do (ie raise awareness, whatever your crusade will be)
3) ??????
4) PROFIT

That website can raise funds, put you in contact with the right people, and generally get shite done.

He doesn't want a handout... although his whole spiel revolves around getting one... it's very confusing.

I didn't even get into the milk and muffin thing...

He is gonna buy milk and muffins for people who could already afford milk and muffins to raise awareness that those people should hire people that have disabilities (including not being able to read and do math) into the technology field..

And you people want to give this person money... WTF???
