LINK
You must have an online account set up though.
Open the link and click on "Learn More." Log-in with your Verizon account and follow the prompts. Nothing to sign up for, just agree to receive an extra 1 GB of data for the current billing cycle and the next. I thought I would share this for the holiday season

Got an extra gig for 24 months when I renewed in September. Instead of 2, I'm getting 3/mo.
ETA: I never come close to using it though.

Guess nobody wants free data

Nope. I got this offer and dont trust it. I already got an extra GB for 2 years when my wife got the iphone 6.
Who knows what Verizon might pull when you sign up for this.

All Verizon customers need to check their data plans. I was on the Family Share Plan with 8 GB of data. Verizon has changed their data plan offerings recently and I switched to the 10GB plan for $10 less per month than I was paying on my old plan. Of course I had to be proactive on this because VZW would never just automatically switch me to the new, cheaper, better plan.
Now for the real question. My plan isn't up until March but I would like to upgrade my phone (cracked the screen in my current phone a couple months ago). Obviously when you re-up there are all sorts of discounts and offers so you pay practically nothing for a new phone vs. paying full retail for one. I'm wondering if VZW will have some sort of holiday special where you can re-up early. They have done it before as I once took advantage of an offer to re-up my contract 6 months early.
I've been with VZW (or its predecessor company) since 1995. I'm not going anywhere.

I switched from unlimited to 6GB two months ago, because as far back as 2 years ago, I never went over 6. For the past two months, I have "supposedly" been hitting 6 in the middle of the month doing absolutely nothing different. fricking bullshite
How the frick can I magically go from never hitting 6 in two years, to 12 in the period of one month? It is a racket

NEVER get off unlimited. The future will be bandwidth heavy and these so called big gig plans will be peanuts in the future.

That's partially why I refuse to give up my grandfathered unlimited data/hotspot on Verizon. That and I don't want to have to count and keep track of data usage.

Ehh. I stream radio/Pandora all day every day while at work and I rarely go over 6GB a month. I've even had months where I'll watch full football or hockey games on my phone and haven't approached 8GB in a month. I'm not that concerned about the data limits since they seem to be offering more for less money every day. I ended up giving up my unlimited data a couple of years ago to get on a cheaper plan and it has been no big deal.
I remember the days when a Motorola Star Tac flip phone was a big deal. Ooooohhh, it now comes with a slimmer battery. Cool. I wonder if my 60 min per month plan is enough or if I should bump up to 90 min for $100/month. You Do Not Want To Go Over Your Minutes...EVER. Then you could start texting but could only use like 50 or 100 per month or it was like $.99 per text.
Now everything is unlimited talk/unlimited text and there are limits on data, which are expanding every day. Eventually the market will dictate unlimited everything and at a lower price. It's just the way these things work.

I had to to upgrade my phone. They would not let me sign another contract without picking another plan

Ill have been with Verizon for 2 years come February. I have always paid for the 2gb plan. Maybe 6 months ago, they bumped me up to 3gb, no charge. 2 weeks ago, I got a text from them telling me I could double my 3gb and get 6gb for no charge. So thats exactly what i did and Im still paying the original price of my 2 gb plan.
