YouTube: GRUBER: "Lack of transparency is a huge political advantage."

Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber bragging about deceiving the American people, who he thinks are stupid.

quote:

“Lack of transparency is a huge political advantage,” says the MIT economist who helped write Obamacare. “And basically, call it the stupidity of the American voter or whatever, but basically that was really, really critical for the thing to pass.”

He says if they had told the truth about what was in the bill, it would never have passed.

its a wonder that it even has to be stated, as if there are people who actually didn't know this, but his audience is the koolaid drinkers, so it probably has to be dumbed down

Another reason why the left works so very hard to get more low information voters registered and to the polls. Easier to sell this crap to the uneducated.

I would love to see a state AG bring up a racketeering and fraud case against certain Dems for this.

It's one thing to deceive another to get your way. It's something worse to then tell you they fricked you over for your own good because in their highly developed worldview, you're better off just doing it their way.

And as a final thought, the signature legislation of the Obama administration occurred while they held a super majority. Both houses of legislature. Both.

And they still lied to pass it.

Vile, filthy, scum.

I hesitate to use the word treason, maybe traitorous is the right word. Willful deceit to enact legislation should be criminal. Pretty vile & narcissistic human being right there

Not sure why this is news. The Speaker of the House overtly preached the same message.

Bump for a Progressive/Liberal interpretation of this "misquote" from the gentleman in question.

Makes you think one thing, but really just steals your money, and wants you to die hard. Hope he doesn't have a brother...

quote:

“This bill was written in a tortured way to make sure CBO did not score the mandate as taxes. If CBO scored the mandate as taxes, the bill dies. Okay, so it’s written to do that. In terms of risk rated subsidies, if you had a law which said that healthy people are going to pay in – you made explicit healthy people pay in and sick people get money, it would not have passed….”

On both points, Everyone pretty much knew these things and it was talked about plenty. Of course the Dems aren't going to come out and say it. Have you ever heard any politician highlight unpopular points of their bills?

That's the nature of politics: you talk about the popular effects of your legislation and diminish anything negative/ unpopular.

If Obama fatigue is as bad or worse than it is now, and if Hillary is the nominee, some smart consultant can take that clip, and ask, "Do you want more of the same?"

This is an article about the citizen who found these clips. He's just a guy who lost his insurance and began doing the job the media should have been doing.
