We did all the right things:
Controlled the line of scrimmage.
Controlled possession.
Forced a turnover.
Kept Bama's offense on the sidelines.
Ran the ball.
Ran the ball.
Ran the ball.

Our opponent:
Took advantage of SHORT field situations.
Scored off an interception.
Scored after a failed squib punt.
Scored THROUGH THE AIR, exposing us with a D-level QB talent & an A-level wide out.

When the game was on the line, Bama was forced to throw and executed. Bama is a run-based, defensive oriented team. Those two monikers are our identity as well. The difference is, OUR passing/QB play/Receiving corp HAVE NOT BEEN DEVELOPED and cannot execute.

Actually, a win by LSu would have been worse for the future because Miles would never abandon 70s style.

philosophy was good. execution was not. it's as simple as that.

when you have open receivers and you throw them shite passes or they drop easy completions, you can't fault the philosophy.

Right here.

The philosophy worked nearly perfectly last night. We controlled the line of scrimmage and time of possession, and our defense played great. If it weren't for a couple key drops, a couple questionable penalties, and mediocre QB play, we would've beaten the #5 team last night.

ETA: Although I do agree with this:

OUR passing/QB play/Receiving corp HAVE NOT BEEN DEVELOPED and cannot execute.

Philosophy is fine for the personel we have. You have to know your limitations and at QB we have many. How was his philosophy with Mett?

I don't like it, but Miles and the coaches see what capabilities are or aren't there every day in practice. Maybe they're running an offense that, in their minds, doesn't ask these kids to do something they can't. Either that or Miles head is forever stuck in the Big 10.

ETA: got to start adding the fade to any spot on the field with the toss dive and the short side sweep as being one of the faves

Philosophy was perfect and we were in position to win. I see no issue.

I think the philosophy fits the talent we have.

I question the "all-pass" OT strategy when the run worked the entire game before. Then again, minus one drop there and we would have had a first.

You think we should have thrown it MORE than 26 times?

The problem is we only seem to have 2 pass playes, the fade and the streak down the sideline. It doesn't matter what down or distance, that's what you are going to get. I do not understand why we continue to call 20 yard pass plays on 3rd and 4 or 5. We never use the middle of the field and we rarely throw the ball on 1st down, we only throw it when we have to.

1. Bama kicked a FG off Jennings Int, we kicked a FG off the fumble.
2. Bama didn't squib one to us
3. We scored THROUGH THE AIR too

Don't show ALL your bias so quickly.

This is the difference between CLM and Saban when they face each other. LSU is its own worst enemy. They choke when face with pressure playing 'Bama the last 4 times. CLM is not going to change his "approach" so get used to it. To be sure it could be way worse, no question. But as it is now, someone has already stated that this team is not likely to win big with the current "philosophy" in place. To win in CFB a team has to have a competent QB. LSU has had Mett and Flynn in the last 7 years. That's it and that will lead to 10-2, 9-3 if you have a great defense and 8-4 or worse if you do not. Write it down.

Our offensive philosophy was fine. They got short field because our punter sucks.

Also their offense has nothing to do with out offense. They scored just as many points in regulation as we did. So shut the frick up and get out of here.

We don't get a tricky tack unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, or the refs remember what pass interference is, or the booth gets its head out of its arse and actually reviews a play we win that game.

I'm here. The offensive plan gave us a great chance to win, and didn't cause us to lose.

They have a 5th year senior at QB, and a junior 1st Team All-American at WR. We have a true sophomore starting at QB, backed up by a true freshman. We have 1 soph and 3 freshmen at WR. Given that, does it really surprise anyone at all, that the more experienced offensive team was able to make more clutch plays? Give Jennings 2 more years of practice, and I bet he has a much better game than Sims did.

Regarding the offense, there has been little to support for many years in CFB terms.

LSU never ran the ball well enough to sustain drives without passing. Could never break out for big gains.

This isn't what lost the game last night.

6-8 dropped passes that hit our guys in the hands that could've set us up in good down and distance or sustained drives cost us the game last night.

This has been the same thing for years??! We have a quarterback from last year starting in the Pros. Bama's national championship qb is a 3rd stringer. It's called excellent offense

You dumbasses absolutely have no logic, concept or rationality of THE QB CAN'T COMPLETE A PASS AND WR DROPS BALLS.
