Update after a visit with the GM
So the GM didn't look you in the eye and say "frick you, lying is perfectly fine if you're stupid enough to believe it"?
Why would he not heed the OT conclusion on this matter? Especially when they know people that are such experts in this field?!?

So this happened:
And you're doing this:
Did they cancel it or void it?
And if you're paying it off in 24 months, why the frick are you getting a 78 month loan? You honestly sound like you misheard the F & I guy and are trying to pin this on him for your stupidity.
You've bought 3 cars recently but don't understand to get pre-qualified before hand?
You really haven't learned your lesson btw. You sound dumb as frick.

went to the dealer- spoke with the GM- The warranty was canceled for me. The GM apologized and said he's never had that issue with this F&I guy (20 plus years)
And you're doing this:

I explained that I would not recommend them to anyone and was going to file complaints with all applicable agencies.

Canceled it
If one lies, why wouldn't they all lie? What else did they lie about?
You must be in an industry that requires you to repeatedly lie to peoples face to make more money. That would be unfortunate for you and those you lie to.
I didn't mishear him, nor did my wife. I'm not saying I was not stupid in my decision to go through with the deal. I even told the GM that it is on me for not doing my homework. But what I didn't appreciate was bold face lies. A salesmen should be able to make a sell without BOLD FACE LIES!
I consider the long term also a momentary lapse in judgement. My intention is still to pay off as soon as possible, but wanted a cushion. I don't mind paying a few hundred over a couple of years to allow for liquid cash if needed.
As I've said, it isn't so much about the rate/term, but the lies.

So the GM agreed there was an error, or a lie or what?

It's time to stop. Now you tell us your wife was in there too!
Even if he misled you a little, he did you a favor. You need the extended in a 79 month loan on a used car! That model has 2 recalls to this point! Again, one recall is electrical which runs every single thing on a vehicle today.
You are over extended with your money and you know it. NO other reason to have a 79 month loan except trying to get a lower payment cause cash is tight, period. You went in with a payment you could live with, and got a vehicle that didn't fit that payment without you extending the terms. I would guess you out nothing down and if so, shows me you aren't going to pay anything off early. You see, on one hand you want us to believe you are a fiscally responsible person who pays things off early, and then on the other hand, we find out you do NO research or even check with a lender on their current rates before you go spend over $25k on a used vehicle.
You type all day on here in your smartphone, but didn't bother going to your bank's page and checking current rates on auto loans.
Then, on top of all your lies and stupidity, you bad mouth a dealership that made you happy as soon as you spoke to the GM.....he gave you exactly what you asked, yet you still think you need to speak negatively about a business who catered to your complaint! Why wouldn't you be telling people " a guy misled me but the GM stepped in a made everything right without a question. What a great business putting the customer first!"
You are over extended as hell. Congrats on knocking a whopping $25/month off your loan. And yes, others are correct, you can always get the extended later, but at that point, you won't be financing it.

So glad I didn't deal with the F&I guy during our last car purchase. Went through my credit union at 1.24%, already had the price negotiated with the dealership (they really thought I was going to finance through them) and then brought them the check from the CU and you should have seen the look on their faces, haha.

I have to be honest here, I think that is just as bad as the dealers lying to you.
If you straight up tell them that you are financing through them when you actually have no intention of doing that, isn't that just as bad?

So you skim them on the price and get them making very little money, in the hopes they can make a few bucks ling term thru financing you?
And you accomplish this by lying? And you feel good about it. Congrats on the foreskin around your neck.
