Report: Autopsy analysis shows Michael Brown may have gone for Wilson’s gun

In protests held in Ferguson, Mo., for more than two months, some said 18-year-old Michael Brown had his hands up when he was killed by police officer Darren Wilson. Hence the clarion call: “Hands up, don’t shoot.”
But a St. Louis Post-Dispatch analysis of Brown’s official county autopsy it has obtained suggests the teenager may not have had his hands raised after all. Experts told the newspaper Brown was shot Aug. 9., at close range — and may have been reaching for Wilson’s weapon. The autopsy found material “consistent with products that are discharged from the barrel of a firearm” in a wound on Brown’s thumb. Judy Melinek, a forensic pathologist in San Francisco, said this “supports the fact that this guy is reaching for the gun, if he has gunpowder particulate material in the wound.”
Melinek, who was not involved in the investigation, said the autopsy did not support those who claim Brown was attempting to flee or surrender.
quote:
She said Brown was facing Wilson when Brown took a shot to the forehead, two shots to the chest and a shot to the upper right arm. The wound to the top of Brown’s head would indicate he was falling forward or in a lunging position toward the shooter; the shot was instantly fatal. A sixth shot that hit the forearm traveled from the back of the arm to the inner arm, which means Brown’s palms could not have been facing Wilson, as some witnesses have said, Melinek said. That trajectory shows Brown probably was not taking a standard surrender position with arms above the shoulders and palms out when he was hit, she said.”
quote:
The examination “does support that there was a significant altercation at the car,” he said.
“Someone got an injury that tore off skin and left it on the car,” Graham said. “That fits with everything else that came out. There’s blood in the car, now skin on the car, that shows something happened right there.”

I am going to have to wait until all of the evidence is presented together. Witness statements and everything.

It is a shame that Brown's supporters have almost made this a "contest" to see what was true by rioting and raising hell, instead of waiting for facts.
Now it turns out the good boy wasn't so good, and Darren Wilson ain't bad with a handgun.

Even a video of the guy attacking the officer couldn't change the narrative thats already been written and chiseled in stone.
Only the officer(career over?) can be helped moving forward into the courts.
In the rush for coverage and ratings much needed perspective and patience from the media gets trampled.

I have little doubt that Brown went for his gun while they fought in the car...I have little doubt that that is how Brown got himself shot in the car. I also have little doubt that Brown put his hands up outside of the car as he was running away and took the fatal shot. It's just a bad, bad scene. I feel bad for the cop...he was amped and carried it too far...but you've got to maintain control. I feel bad for Brown, because his dead even though he finally came to his senses. Honestly, it's not a black/white thing at that point...it's an adrenalin response thing. One can debate the whole race issue over the initial interaction, but once the struggle started...it turns into a fight/flight response.

Sad to say, but none of this will matter to the race-baiters. They've already gotten their marches and protests in.
Checks have been written. Money's in the bank. They'll slink off in the dark of night and pretend none of this ever happened.

Just a good boy going to college.

The evidence is peripheral in regard to the real problem up there in Ferguson. Political correctness - and it's spawn, double standards or no standards - is the real danger. The *reverend* Sharpton et al will whip up the fury just like with Brawley. The only question will be whether the gangs will be allowed to go rogue or LE will shut it down with whatever force required.
Anybody think Obama/Holder will step in and do the right think?

Maybe those outside agitators and union thugs will riot because no one takes them seriously anymore.

I don't see anything is this story that we didn't already know. Even Brown's friend Dorian Johnson said that something happened in the car, but the discrepency is over what happened in the car. When we can replace the words "may have been reaching" with "definitely was reaching", then we'll have something to go on.

Sounds like Wilson Stood His Ground!

This is just even further evidence that backs the officers account. To my knowledge, there hasn't been one bit of actual evidence that refutes any part of his account. In contrast, almost every "witness" account has been refuted by the evidence. The things we know for sure now based off evidence are he commits a strong arm robbery, he is blocking the road, he obviously reaches into the officers car either trying to fight him or get his weapon, then begins to flee but turns around, is NEVER shot from behind based off the forensics, then gets shot in the top of the head (which is exactly what Darren Wilson said happened while he was charging him). The last bit of forensics needed are to see if he was indeed approaching him or not. They can tell this just by looking at the bullet wounds. This will be the most open and shut case in history at this rate!
