I don't know how I was raised in such a redneck household and never picked up those pronunciations. My dad pronounces "ruin" as rurn, and room as "ruhm" but pronounces roof correctly. My mom pronounces mature as "mah-tewer."

Why can't people from the northeast say Trenton or anything that rhymes with it. They can't say the middle of the word? Tri-in.

I've also noticed that people from the southwestern part of Louisiana can't say a word that ends in "ale".

"Whale" becomes "well", and "swale" becomes "swell". fricking lazy.

My uncle from Meridian, Ms is an educated man, (a doctor) and retired general in the Nat'l Gd. He pronounces corner as coner. Flips me out. Then there's the Poleece and Am bu lance, but that's the democrats in Ms.
