LaPlace, But I went to high school in New Orleans.
Where do I stand TD?
I usually tell people I'm from the NOLA area, but I don't say New Orleans specifically.
Also depends who I'm talking to. If it's someone from out of state I'll say New Orleans area since I'm sure they have no idea where LaPlace is. But if it's someone from S. Louisiana, I'll say LaPlace.
Reeg...don't let Oubre and Jacob know you are denying your roots...

The way I see it. If you have to "hop on I 10" to get within city limits, you don't live there.
Then by the way you see it Kenner would be considered NOLA

There is a certain historical truth to this.

"The battle of Chalmette"
I can relent to that for historical purposes.

ETA: If someone asks you where you went to school, and you don't know to say what high school you went to, you are NOT from New Orleans.

you've had me fooled. I always thought you were in the city limits based on your posts.
Metairie here and I say I'm from Nola any time I exit the levee system.

I went to two high schools, one which drew primarily from Orleans Parish residents and one which drew primarily from the Suburban Parishes. I felt a whole lot more N'Awlins where y'at in the latter. The former were mostly the kids of out of state transplants- could have been Pennsylvania.

Orleans
Jefferson
St. Bernard
maybe parts of St. Tammany.

Admit your list was shite.... As soon as I saw it I was going to comment, I hope you aren't trying to justify it at all... Pure shite toilet water
Posted on 10/17/14 at 1:45 pm to DollaChoppa
It depends on the context IMO. If you are out of town and people ask where you are from, I think any of those places listed in the OP are acceptable saying you're from Nola, simply because people don't know any other city in the state except Baton Rouge maybe (yes I've met many people traveling who don't know where Baton Rouge is).
If you're talking to people in Louisiana you have to use the city of your parish.

No, there is nothing wrong with saying this to an out of towner "I live in Kenner, it's in the New Orleans area"
If the city you live in has a different name than New Orleans, you do not live in New Orleans. Period.
