Technology device you purchased but nobody else did

Spin Off from the worst purchase thread. Does not have to be the worst purchase but something you bought that many other people never did ie. Laser Disc. Me I bought a Mini Disc player few years before the Ipod came out. Really no one bought one here in the US and I don't even think artists even put out their albums on Mini Disc. Was a cool item to own but pretty much worthless right after I bought it.

HTC EVO LTE. After the huge success and excellent dev community of the OG EVO I figured the EVO LTE was a no brainer. Sat in XDA EVO LTE forums for months waiting on the devs and users who never showed.
On the bright side I learned a lot about Android development because of this as I eventually said frick it I will do it myself.

i bought a 64mb sony mp3 player in 1999.. was groundbreaking stuff.. took apple to come along for the average idiot to understand how cool the technology was..

I bought one of these. Took expandable compact flash cards and came with a 32MB one in 1999-2000. I think it was like $250 at radio shack and held maybe 5-10 songs. Such a rip off, bought an iPod shortly after they came out.

This bad boy...Kyocera Echo
Was a pretty advanced/innovative concept, but was pretty poorly executed and very buggy

Your submission reminded me of this, Nike MP3 player. Thought it was so amazing, as MP3 players were not tremendously popular at the time and pretty advanced technology to me. Think I paid something like $250-$300 for it at the time at CompUSA (when thy existed)
64 sweet sweet Megabytes of storage felt like a at the time

I've never heard/seen what you had there. Is that a remote with it?
I bought mine for around $400-$500 at Best Buy near Christmas 2000 or '01.

Yep it was an in line remote that had an LCD display on it. Was actually one of the neater features.
The nomad jukebox was pretty impressive to me at the time but out of the price range for my 14 or so year old self
Here's a review of the Nike Mp3 player if anyone is bored.
Nike mp3 review from 2001

The player on our arm certainly turned heads in the gym, especially from those sporting clunky cassette players in their hands. We were constantly asked about this interesting heart monitor we were using and when we told them it played music, eyes popped open and everyone wanted to know where they could get one. Their exhuberance was tempered by the $279.00 price tag of the PSA[Play 120 which is only a little above average for a 64MB MP3 player. Not surprisng, MP3 portables are yet to hit the mainstream so like any new technology prices are high.

This bad boy here, the TRS-80 model 200. For that time it was actually pretty good but didn't sell well.
