Specifically across or down the middle?

Is it trust/anticipation in the WR's routes or not a strong enough arm by Jennings?

Also it seems we abandoned the RB screen. But it really takes a special type of RB to run the screen. If you follow the Saints there is a major production drop off from Pierre Thomas to the other RBs on the RB screen. It takes a lot of discipline to run the RB screen. It's a play that's probably too technical and we are probably a little too inexperienced as a unit (currently). The OL, RB and QB have to sync up almost perfectly on an RB screen so I can understand why we haven't seen that play call in awhile.

1. a more productive passer. Sounds simple but it is the initial requirement.

2. an entirely different offensive coaching mindset from the one incorporated thus far in 2014.

some creativity would help it out.

not trying to beat a dead horse, but outs and streaks are about all we've been throwing this year.

drags, option routes, smash routes, even the dreaded bubble screen could help get the qb into rhythm.

Either for harris to learn the offense better, or Jennigns to get a stronger arm.

Jennings has shown zero improvement since the bowl game last year.

He's still awful.

A coach that will call it and a qb that can make the throw.

There's your answers, although it has nothing to do with arm strength. Neither our QBs or our WRs can be trusted to run a read and react passing attack. Remember that if you get this wrong you throw picks - and often pick sixes. That's why Les and Cam keep the action wide of the hashes where it takes MORE arm strength, BTW.

Swing passes, WR screens, short crossing routes, five yard outs. Anything to get the QB in a rhythm.

Better coaching, and it hurts to say that.

I see lots of problems with our coaching on offense when it comes to the passing game. First, don't change the play on the sidelines when there is only 8 seconds left on the play clock. The kids aren't getting the message changed quick enough and it results in us burning a timeout or a penalty. Second, spend more times practicing passing plays during the week. I know that sounds weird, but it's crazy how it looks like our guys are executing a play for the first time ever whenever we throw the ball. Everyone looks lost. And, lastly, keep mixing up the personnel packages. If you allow all of your RB's to pass block, then that adds a wrinkle to your offense. Having the same RB on pass blocking plays in long yardage situations doesn't help our new QB any.
