For LSU Fans That Think Miles Only Wins With Talent

I guess the same can be said with Saban.
He has the last 4 #1 classes.
At Michigan State he put up mediocre records of 6-6 and 7-5 and finally had one break through season at 9-2. So obviously he didn't have enough talent there.
He comes to LSU and loses to UAB and many LSU fans dismiss that now as him not having "his" talent recruited yet. He loses to a probation Alabama 31-0 at home in 2002. I guess he didn't have enough "talent" then either.
Finally he has the talent after a monster 2001 class and we win the title in 2003.
The point is that Saban didn't finally win because of smoke and mirrors. He won because he brought talent in.
Why does Miles get criticized for winning on talent but Saban doesn't?

It's a legit post as Saban is the yard stick Miles is measured against on here

yeah this is one of the dumbest things I see some talking about on this board
every consistently successful coach in history wins on talent
sure less talented teams can and will beat more talented teams, but on a consistent basis, talent wins the vast majority of times
just look at the recruiting rankings and they will line up with the top 10 teams most years

People complain about Miles because only one championship, and it was a while back. We want to stay relevant.

Sabans got a bunch of hardware bro.

He won his hardware with "talent" also.
So why do many insult Miles for his wins with "talent" but never say anything about Saban.
Its pretty telling.

Saban makes halftime adjustments.
Saban doesn't repeatedly make the same terrible clock management decisions over and over.
Saban won 1/9

Good post and 100% correct.

Saban takes his foot off the gas and leaves teams hanging in there. This has always been a criticism about him.
He also handcuffs his coordinators according to AJ McCarron.

I agree with this post. Saban works the college football system to perfection, just like bear Bryant did - pre scholy limo titration days Bear would get all the talent and starve the rest of the college landscape.
Not saying it's wrong, it's all legit, but a great coach it does not make.
Turning to CLM, my beef isn't that he's not saban - many forget he was wearing out his welcome here especially after that lost to Iowa, it's that he doesn't seem to make good football decisions from time to time and dosent seem to get the most out of players. Just my 2 cents sitting in the cheap seats.

Miles doesn't get criticized for "winning on talent". Nobody in the world thinks you can consistently win at this level with poor talent.
It's always amazing to see LSU fans defend Miles by criticizing Saban's tenure at LSU. As if you just don't remember where the program was when Saban was hired vs where it was when Miles was hired.
Someone last night even had the gall to pretend that Les's 2 SEC/1 NC carry the same weight as Saban's, as if they don't realize that Saban did it in a 5 year tenure instead of Les's 10 year tenure.
I don't even like Saban, but it's just disingenuous to ignore context when talking about his time here vs Miles's time here.

Could be wrong, but I think the team had some good talent when he got here.

Those that still credit Saban for the state of the LSU program 10 years since he left are equally as bad.

LSU fans are TOTALLY Saban-sessed.
It's like the hot ex-GF that they can't let go of, even after she goes on to be a Super Model and they are stuck at their old truck-driving job.
