In 2008 our bad losses include:
30 point loss to Florida
14 Point loss to Georgia
18 Point loss to Ole Miss
and we lost to an Arkansas team that went 5-7 that year

2011 we had one of the best teams in college football history. So why are people saying Les Miles cant recover from this year?

1/9 was hard to watch but Alabama was pretty stout that year too. GET OVER IT

Everyone just calm the hell down. We were supposed to have growing pains this season.

I REALLY cant wait for all the Les Miles haters this year to start loving him in two years when Leonard Fournette is up for Heisman and we are back in the top ten.

Since 2008, Miles has a 50% win rate against Ole Miss and Florida. We lose the games coming up that drops to 43%. Against Bama is 29%, lose to them drops to 25%. Arkansas is 66%, lose to them that's 57%. So, considering he is the best coach that ever lived to some of you, what do you think about having a losing % to 3 of our yearly west foes if this season continues to go bye bye.

They blamed Peveto first
Then Jarrett Lee
Then Crowton

But since Peveto and Crowton left, and Lee delivered in 2011, and we see the same problems, people now realize their blame was misplaced. Well, sane people do

We'll right the ship this year, and finish 8-4

We then come one game short of winning the West next year, and finish 10-2

With this 2014 class, Guice, Toliver, Ducre, and Teuhema, of 2015, and the monster class we are looking to pull in 2016, we are going undefeated in 2016. I'm talking way better offense than 2013, and just as good of a defense as 2011. We will be unstoppable.

But for now, we just watch these guys grow up.

2008 was coming off a NC and our QB had just been kicked off the team. The defense was awful, but it had talent and everyone understood the QB issues.

This is now the second straight year of weak defense and aside from 2013, we've endured some horrible offenses.

There was some talk about how Les was finally out of Saban's players.

However, most of the blame and anger was directed to Malveto.

Les suffered some collateral damage as he was the one he created Malveto.

The QB situation was viewed as a contributing disaster. Crowton largely escaped blame because our only options were a Harvard transfer and two freshmen. Les also escaped most of the blame for the QB situation as Perrilloux and his shortcomings were viewed as the source of our issues. Moreover, even though our offense was hyper-spastic we were still scoring points for the most part. The defense had no excuse.

LSU shouldn't be having any growing pains ten years into the program. Everything should be in place to avoid any kind of regression and/or rebuilding. If your recruiting and coaching are up to par, there shouldn't be any off years like this.

All the NFL defections shouldn't matter either, if you've recruited at a high level and the classes are balanced.

L.S.U. has NOT recruited enough high quality Offensive Linemen, Defensive Linemen and Linebackers. Those positions are not quite up to SEC Championship level at LSU right now. (Particularly OL)

And you have to recruit the type of athletes that are going to fit your system. If you're going to run primarily I-Form, then recruit Mettenberger type drop back pocket passing QB's.

Gonna run the Spread, then recruit Spread QB's a la Brandon Harris.

Wanna have the Offensive Line Zone Block, then recruit OL's that Zone Blocked in high school. Have to be able to process information quickly, work as a team and think on your feet. And you better well have a damn smart Center that can recognize what he sees pre-snap on the defense and make the correct calls. (Good luck with that Jeff Grimes in getting your Zone Blockers in here)

All this shouldn't be unfolding 10 years in and that's one of the major complaints so many fans have with Miles.

What I remember was that fans kind of gave him a beak since he'd delivered a title the year before, but they demanded lots of changes in the assistant coaches. Les was starting to be under considerable pressure before upsetting Georgia Tech in that bowl game. That really took a lot of the heat off of him (that and the firing of the co-defensive coordinators + crowton).

The big difference was that We were supposed to be good that year, but we lost our star QB right before the season (Perriloux) and had nothing to replace him right away (They were expecting to have Lee ready for the following season). The offense struggling that year wasn't really a surprise. Plus, we beat Auburn, Miss State, and nearly upset a top 5 Bama team.

Although there were some parallels, this season is much worse.

People in 2008 and 2009 were calling for Miles to be fired. The number 1 replacement mentioned on this board was Will Muschamp if I recall. How would have that worked out?

In 2008: "We won a title last year and are rebuilding"

In 2014: "We won a title seven years ago and are rebuilding"

a few arguments i remember...

1. We'll never beat alabama again
2. we'll never beat Florida again
3. we'll never beat auburn again
4. we'll never win the SEC West again
5. we'll never win the SEC again

As reasonable as anything on this board. I'm definitely in the patience camp.

he was one year removed from a national championship so no significant pressure was placed on CLM. the blame was placed squarely on the co-DCs.
