OT Docs, Ocshner or Tulane for a kidney transplant

Time for my son to transition out of pediatric care to one of those.
Figured I'd get the OT temp on it for some reason.
ETA: he's on the list, not a transplantee yet.

Best friend works in the transplant unit at Ocshners. One of the best in the country. I personally would not go anywhere else.

Buddy did his in Houston.

Out of those two I'd go with Oschner.

His care has been in Houston since Katrina. We can't go any longer at Texas children's.

Look at how long the surgeons and nephrologist have been working and at their current location. Experience trumps all, though kidney transplant is the easiest to perform and prevent rejection, so he likely to do about the same at either place. I would guess ochsner would be easier to get appointments and be more efficient as a private va academic center

Wouldn't have anything done at Tulane. Ochsner has a good transplant program.

My wife gave her cousin a kidney in July at UAB in Birmingham. Smooth as silk, supposedly top ranked in the country. Sorry know nothing about Tulane or Oschner.

My SO has a friend who had a kidney transplant a few years ago at Ocshner and she is doing very well. That is where I would go.

Thanks all.. pretty much the same advice we're getting from friends and family offline. Several in the med community.

Agreed.
UAB is one of the top transplant centers in the US.

Dr. Thomas at Tulane. He saved my dad's life years ago

Well since I'm qualified to give an opinion in this thread, I won't post mine.

If you'll post most and larger pics of your avatar, I'll accept that.

For what its worth, i did hear houston and uab are great facilities too. is your child recieving dialysis at the moment?

Yes, he does daily in home dialysis. We've just transitioned his clinical care here and his transplant list work up is next.
We'll probably meet irl soon.
