Yes sir.

Your overall budget is going to play some part in it as well. Marco and some of the others in here have a shite ton of knowledge to help you get the right equipment.

You’ll here details in the music that you haven’t heard before. Everyone who comes to my place loves to listen to my setup and I don’t have anything crazy. I just added a Bluesound Node to stream through vs streaming straight from my phone to my amp. Huge difference in sound doing it that way. I think a quality streaming service like Quboz and Tidal obviously helps as well.

It’s a bad habit….

Let me ask this thread this, is the sound you get from these set ups worth it in the end?

That's as subjective a question as there is. It all depends on what you want in your listening. If it's background while you're enjoying something else as a primary activity, probably not. If you like to at least occasionally sit down, close your eyes and do nothing but listen, then yes. If you feel an urge to get as close to feeling like the musicians are in the room with you, then yes.

I've got a pair of Martin Logan electrostatic speakers that create a magical 3D experience when you're in the sweet spot. When I want to experience that, nothing beats it. But then, my wife can hear it... and she doesn't care. Her ears are probably better than mine, technically. (She's told me a couple of times now about hearing someone else's speakers and how she could tell they weren't nearly as good.) She can play music on her phone's speaker and dance around and she's happy. The sound is so crappy that it's painful to me, and she just doesn't care.

It's all about how you want to experience music and what floats your boat.

This is what kind of worries me about diving in, that everything will sound shitty once I get a legit amp, DAC, receiver, and speakers.

Right now I can roll with a Bose Bluetooth speaker and be happy but that may go away if I get a legit rig .

shite, I play mine outside and at the golf course all the time. I don’t have kids, so I listen to mine a lot in the afternoons after work. It’s very cool when you get into that sweet spot and it’s like being at a live venue sitting in just the right spot. The soundstage and detail is what I enjoy the most.

I also, just fricking turn it right and drink a bourbon while cooking in the kitchen. You wouldn’t regret it!

Yes it is.

I run stuff through a Bose Wave Radio and the sound is pretty legit

To be blunt. If it's just background noise your Bose is fine. If you want to actually sit and listen to the music there is no comparison. Your Bose is bottom entry level at best.

Darkside- Psychic (VMP)
Im usually not interested in this kind of music, but this album sounds sooooo good, and one of just a handful of electronic styled albums I own. I haven’t listened to it in ages either. Need to dust it off.

RHCP “Unlimited Love”, 2022

This was recorded straight to tape and is 100% all analog from what I understand. And boy, can you tell! Stay away from the colored versions, I’ve heard they’re full of surface noise and non-fill.

And John is a goddam guitar god!

Good to know. They had it spinning in a LRS last week, and the little I heard sounded pretty good. Might have to get it.

RHCP is coming to town. I didn’t buy tickets because it’s in BOA Stadium and I can’t get into that (stadium shows)

Frusciante is awesome. So glad he didn’t meet what looked like the end.

Saw them in 2006 and it was fantastic.

Every now and then I browse the real estate market to keep an eye on home values. Last night I was looking at a neighborhood across the street with homes that are twice the price as mine and look at what I found. Figured some folks in this thread would appreciate it but I have no idea what kind of speakers I’m looking at here.
