Obama approves killing of civilians in fight vs. ISIL

I'm very disappointed by today's White House decision to not consider civilian deaths when drone bombing ISIL/AQ terrorists. I know we hate them, but killing women and children (and men too!) is unacceptable at any time when there's a choice. I don't care how far along these overhyped bombmakers are in their overhyped plots -- go in their with Special Ops aka Bin Laden but don't bomb entire neighborhoods when you KNOW innocents will die. That's bloody murder. Screw Obama on this one.

White House exempts Syria airstrikes from tight standards on civilian deaths
Amid reports of women and children killed in U.S. air offensive, official says the 'near certainty' policy doesn’t apply
The White House has acknowledged for the first time that strict standards President Obama imposed last year to prevent civilian deaths from U.S. drone strikes will not apply to U.S. military operations in Syria and Iraq.
A White House statement to Yahoo News confirming the looser policy came in response to questions about reports that as many as a dozen civilians, including women and young children, were killed when a Tomahawk missile struck the village of Kafr Daryan in Syria's Idlib province on the morning of Sept. 23.
The village has been described by Syrian rebel commanders as a reported stronghold of the al-Qaida-linked Nusra Front where U.S officials believed members of the so-called Khorasan group were plotting attacks against international aircraft.

Only way to assure they get Assad in collateral damage.

Good.
It's time we take the gloves off and kill these animals.
Collateral damage is a part of any war.
Sucks, but thems the breaks.

shite happens. It's WAR.
The minute we became pussies and decided to get into skirmishes without a defined objective and a "do whatever is necessary for victory" attitude, is the minute we started losing.
Handcuff the greatest generals in world history and watch them be worn down when it's all said and done and never be able to claim victory.

this isn't 1944, we can kill what we need without hurting civilians. I also don't feel ISIS is a huge threat to Lake Charles (does anyone?). No, even killing 1 innocent person knowingly is morally unacceptable.
Like I said, do a Bin Laden to kill specific targets but don't destroy entire city blocks. That's negligent homicide.

No but i'd probably strap one on and blow my self up if I had to live in Lake Charles.

If 1,000 women and children have to die to keep at least one American soldier/sailor/airman/marine alive, I am all for it. If a drone strike is the least risky option then do it.

You cannot know this for certain in every possible permutation of a conflict.

If they support and harbor ISIS I have no problem, b/c they are part of the problem.

It's their kids or my kids, so I say make it their kids. Those kids are the one being brainwashed into future ISIL fighters.

I shouldn't be amazed at the posts in this thread, but I kinda am.

Get back to us when you study up a little more on casualties from the Twin Towers attack. Also, if the people of the countries being droned by us don't want civilian deaths then maybe they need to rise up against their government to show their displeasure. If they are not willing to make a stand on their own then these civilians could and probably will be a statistic of their own inactions.

So now we're "air raiding villages and bombing civilians." 2008 Obama meets 2014 Obama.

One of the excuses used by the Pentagon for the lack of strikes against ISIS near Kobane is concern over civilian casualties, but if ISIS takes over Kobane all the civilians left will be slaughtered! What a mess!
