OT Attorneys: How much for a name change?

I guess I've been living under a rock or something, but I just found out that my ex-wife still uses my last name. I just kind of assumed that with a divorce decree, she could just switch back to her maiden name.
How much to file & what's the procedure? I know she can't afford it so I might pay for it for her.

Same procedure she went through to get your name in the first place.
SS office, drivers license, a bunch of other places.

Do you two have kids?
Maybe she wants to keep the name because of them.
Or maybe it's just to piss you off.
I think she could have asked for a name change before the final decree. BUT, it's a pain in the arse to do. Think of all the things you need to change: D/L, credit cards, utility bills, bank accounts, car title, etc.

She still loves you. I think the two of you should sit down and talk.

Maybe; I dunno.
She just had that kid with what's-his-name. She's listed as a full-time student & he's listed as unemployed.

Go to courthouse, get a copy of some that were approved by court, do the same. If you have some brains, you shouldn't need a lawyer.

Are you going to change your name?

My mom still has my dad's last name and they've been divorced 15 years.

Come to think of it, that might be the easiest way.

Solid choice; I'll consider it.

You could always change it back. I bet she'd be pissed.
