What could possibly go wrong??

quote:

All-male residential fraternities at Wesleyan University in Middletown must now open their doors to female members, according to a recent decision by the college administration.

The change is intended to make Wesleyan all-inclusive, a university spokesperson said Monday. The decision will affect Delta Kappa Epsilon and Psi Upsilon, the two all-male fraternities at Wesleyan.

This is not something to celebrate on the fraternity side. DKE has said they will remove their chapter should this happen, so we'll see where it goes from here. Thankfully, it's a small, meaningless university, but this sets a scary precedent for any rogue university administrator who wants to make a legacy for themselves. Co-ed fraternities are not fraternities, they are clubs. Also, the women who want to join a co-ed fraternity are not the same women you want to bring home.

From the last line of the article:

Foley said the university stands to gain a lot from the new policy, but cautioned that "fraternities are a symptom of a larger issue among young people."

What the frick does this mean?

I thought I read in another thread about this that they nicknamed that college "the rape factory". Sounds like a bad idea.

Methodists have always been inclusive. No surprise here.

Princeton's Eating Clubs, which are similar to fraternities, have been coed for years.

I guess this means that the "Little Sisters" program will go from unofficial to official.

EDIT -

By this measure, is Wesleyan requiring the sororities to go co-ed as well?
