I'm on campus for one reason...the football game
I agree with this statement but it seems that we are in a big time minority when it comes to LSU "fans" who have tickets to the games. I bet you're like me and stay for the whole game because you understand that you only have a small number of days/nights a year to experience an LSU home game in TS. Most LSU fans consider us suckers, 20 years ago these "fans" would have got there arse kicked for saying such a thing.

New age??? I've been a season ticket holder since '95 and suffered through the Hallman years as a student. I still tailgate but it's not like it used to be.

I get that people enjoy tailgating...but what many of these folks forget is that tailgating as it got to in the 90's and 2000's was NOT the way it used to be. There was a time in the 80's and before when it wasn't REQUIRED to show up to campus at 10 in the morning just to park for a 7 or 8pm game because a ton of assholes without tickets were there taking up space.
When I did that more often in the 2000's, it was out of necessity in order to park on the side of campus that allowed me to get back to I-10 west without a huge hassle because tailagiting as thing became as important (and clearly moreso to some) than thr actual football game.
But yeah...I'm there for the game, not the party outside of the stadium.
And keep in mind, the OP is essentially upset that OTHER PEOPLE are not partying enough so that the atmosphere in total is raucous enough for his tastes. What the frick difference does that make? You want to tailgate big and hard...do so. Why would it ruin someone else's day that others do not?

I went to the Miss St game and the Saints game yesterday morning, it's night and day how much more fun the Saints home games are...it's like a big party in the dome during the game, every single person is standing up celebrating, screaming, hollering, just having a good time....maybe it's selling alcohol in the game that changes it, I don't know

Man. How can it escape you that the raucous atmosphere outside translates to the raucous atmosphere inside?
This is so obvious I can't believe it's even coming up for discussion.

is it more enjoyable for you to watch a game with 25,000 bored people in tiger stadium or do you like it full and and everybody full of energy?

I thought the atmosphere til the blowout was top notch. The place was ready to explode and it showed when they announced Shaq and the fumble

After the way we lost, combined with who our next opponent is, combined with the fact that this will be our 4th straight home game...
Next week this campus will be a ghost town.
I agree with all except for the way we lost. I hate how bad we looked, but that won't stop me from going to the next game. However, the rest of your comment, is dead on. Rent-a-win, 44 pt favorite, 4 home games in a row, more 2 TE, 2 back sets....

It doesn't help that MSU took us out of the game quick.

I have no idea where you must have been. I thought it was lively as ever. When it was 17-10 and State had 3rd down and 10 it was as loud as ever.

The Saints have a very lively and partying fan base. It's New Orleans. Plus Saints fans have a reason to get behind their team, Katrina almost caused the saints to leave New Orleans. The Saints are a symbol of recovery and revitalizing of a damaged city. There is a pretty good reason why the saints games are so lively and party like.
I think the LSU fan base is spoiled but there are enough loyal fans who will keep the atmosphere alive.
But The super dome is one of the best, if not the best atmosphere in NFL football.

It really is amazing just how much the tailgating rules traffic procedures and price increases have destroyed a once great thing.

Because it doesn't? Because it never did? Because tailgating as an art-form as it is now is essentially a new phenomenon (say 25 years at most) and if Tiger Stadium really was louder and more terrifying back in the day, than it stands to reason it was so before the advent of tailgating as it has become? When I was a kid and came to my first game in 1982, I remember vividly showing up "early" for a game and parking in the now pay lots that would have certainly been free at the time that is between Nicholson and the football offices near the railroad tracks at probably 2 in the afternoon. There were no huge trailers, giant BBQ setups, huge generators or DJ's blaring music. There were groups and families in lawn chairs with ice chests or small BBQ pits tossing around footballs.
I'm not arguing at all that inside the stadium things are harder to get gong and harder to sustain. They are. I think LSU is being bullheaded about trying to force "atmosphere" by blaring shitty and ill timed piped in music during the game, for starters. I could go on about this, but because I'm not a whiny bitch I have no interest in picking thi scab the Monday after a loss to State.
Fans in 2014 are, sadly, not into the game as much as they were before. What's funny to me is that while you claim there's a correlation between that lack of interest and a lack on interest on the party outside the stadium, I'd argue that the lack of interest correlates in the exact opposite way to how good the party is outside.
Before nearly everyone outside the stadium had the ability to stream satellite TV in HD to 60" flat screen at their tailgate, equipped with shop fans and/or portable ACs and generators, people actually DID stay in the stadium to watch the game and they were louder when there.

Forget parking and tailgating and all the restrictions
How about the cost of tickets and taf fees -
$100 for bama tickets, really!
Now baseball is going up again too - they can't even get out of regionals

Through the third qrt. I think about 90% of the fans stayed at the game. Once it looked obvious we were going to lose that game, fans started to leave. I was impressed how long fans stayed for that game. The drive they had when we were down by 7 the stadium was rocking, the drive that started from the .5 yard line, the stadium was rocking. After they went up 31-10 our fans pretty much gave up. But what do you expect everyone fan base in the country would give up after that point.
