It is generally considered the worst IPA in the land around these parts.

It's not just those parts.

Stone IPA for sure. Stone Arrogant Bastard is one of my favorite beers of all time.

I've had Stone IPA. How's Arrogant Bastard in comparison?

Somewhere between an IPA and a dark IPA.

Russian Imperial stouts are my favorite. Also not a fan of Guinness

Old Rasputin Imperial Russian Stout is all time favorite. 9% ABV as well is a plus.

the few IPAs I have tried, I have liked
I favor darker beers

For IPA's distributed locally try

Southern Tier 2XIPA
Stone IPA
Stone Ruination IPA
Sweetwater IPA
Founder's Centennial IPA
Founder's All Day IPA
Green Flash West Coast IPA (this needs to be fresh. Problem is, it's hard to find fresh Green Flash anywhere)
Green Flash Rye IPA

for some Pale Ale's try

Southern Tier Live
Parish Envie
Sweetwater 420 Pale Ale

Stouts:

Santa Fe Brewing Java Stout
Clown shoes - they make a multitude of stouts, all are pretty decent
Sierra Nevada Narwhal
Green Flash Double Stout
Mikkeller Beer Hop Breakfast
Mikkeller Beer Geek Brunch

And if you are trying to expand your palet, pick up a saison. The saison season is about over, so you won't find too much but:

Saison Dupont
Parish Farmhouse IPA
Upright Brewing 7 (hard to find nowadays. Unsure why)
Slumbrew Flower Envy

I had a guy who told me he only likes "dark beers". I asked him why and he said, "Because I like my beer to have flavor."

I told him that I could find him a light colored beer that has flavor and he said he would go to a local tap room with me and try a beer that I reccomended, but he didn't think I could do it.

I'm contemplating what I should give him. So many options...

Well, I enjoy all of those styles of beer. I don't enjoy when people pluralize words with apostrophe -s.

Awful.

Or when people put an apostrophe -s at the end of a restaurant that doesn't have it.

It's Zea. Not Zea's.
Mestizo. Not Mestizo's.
La Madeleine. Not La Madeleine's.

Maybe wreck him with some sort of Cascade sour and then punch him in the mouth with a super fresh IPA.

Also, when did Cascade stop shipping beers? Just noticed they no longer sell them on their site. Damn the man!
