Gaming Hype Problem

It seems yet again that people are getting sold on games before they're released and getting burned. I've been burned before, Perfect Dark Zero, Halo 3, Skyrim, Fable, and the list goes on.
Will the gaming community ever stop buying the hype and let games be released before making strong opinions?

At least for Steam, early access has slowed down the hype train because of unfinished games. On console, if the developers don't release a demo then hype is all people have to go on.

To answer the OP, no people will always get overhyped. You have to remember that a large percentage of this crowd is young, under 18 in particular. This is basically their life at this point and don't have the experience with life in general to stay grounded.

Not sure how anyone could have gotten burnt on Destiny because there was no bait and switch and they had an free alpha and beta that was available for those who wanted to try it out.

How did you get burned on Halo 3 and Skyrim?

Let me guess, Donkey Kong and Zelda ruined your childhood; and you were disappointed by the lack of platforming in Mario Kart.

Our contemporary lives are built around marketing - just about everything we want to own or do has been sold to us, overtly or not.
"Gaming" is just one of many industries that has grown exponentially in size and scope to the point that a video game brand's marketing budget can be as high as a quarter of a million dollars. When you consider that many American companies in general allocate around 5-10% of their annual revenue to marketing and advertising, you can expect the hype to become more and more pervasive.
Also consider that the sources people look to for information about new video games are typically shills for said games, pumping out a steady stream of tofu-bland, hardly-relevant-to-the-consumer articles about the minutiae of development.
Too bad many individuals only recognize pandering when it is directed at someone else.
