What's the longest time you've heard someone wait before naming their baby?

Buddy of mine and his wife had their 3rd kid this morning at 9 a.m. and still haven't decided on a name. It's almost almost 10 hours since they had him. Everybody is calling him John Doe.

Eta: they've known for months they were having a boy.

About 24 hours

I think you have to name them before you leave?

Peekaboo Street, the skier, named herself. So, however old that was.

10 hours is no big deal, man.

3 days. We had thought girl for sure and had the name picked out, except she was a boy. Complications in the birth and immediately flown to an NICU in Wisconsin. I went there. This was 1 AM Sunday. We named him Tuesday night. We still have paperwork for Boy. I told the staff to call me Man.

Scandinavians don't name their babies until they are christened, which can be over a year sometimes.

Maybe they had a couple names in mind....but wanted to wait until the baby was born to see which name suited the baby more.

Not that odd really. Saw it several times when I was a mother/baby nurse.

For hospital records....baby is just Boy Smith or Girl Smith anyways. Even in the NICU for babies that have been there months....their id bands still say Girl Smith.

My great aunt named herself when she was about three. Of course, she was close to the youngest of ten kids. My great grandmother was probably tired of thinking up names! They called her Baby until she named herself.

10 days or do, longer than a week.

Coco is the name. He was a Bush Admin appointee attorney. They both went to Washington & Lee. It was odd.
