I met him while he was doing re-shoots for season three of The Walking Dead. The guy spoke to me in an American accent without the southern twang. I remember thinking, "Come on guy. Out with it. I know you're English."
it's probably much easier to keep using one accent when filming.....obviously

Portia de Rossi purposefully worked on losing her Australian accent

It was considered coarse and unrefined on the Isle of Lesbos. (Broke my heart as she was so as Nelle on "The Practice".)

Now say, "Raise up lights", and imagine what it says in her native accent.

I had no idea until I opened this thread that Christian Bale was Welsh. Makes a lot more sense why people call Gareth Bale "Christian Bale" jokingly.

He's not Welsh - his parents are English - he was born in Wales, but he's not Welsh.

One thing about the UK and Ireland,

don't assume anything about anyone's nationality based simply on where they were born

Yvonne Strahovski is Aussie. On Chuck and Dexter she has no trace of an Aussie accent.

I am not surprised by most of these. Already knew it.

What's really crazy is how many of our American superheroes arent American.

We're outsourcing our American heroes!

My favorite was Harry Walsh from Band of Brothers. He carried off the American accent great until he had to say the line "no playing grab fanny with the man in front of you" when they were about to go on patrol. But it was super-obvious in that scene.

Lots of British actors in BoB playing American soldiers.

Just as there were lots of Brits in Blackhawk Down.

ETA: And Tom Hardy, for example, is in both - although he wasn't super famous yet.

The kid who plays Norman Bates on Bates Motel is British, never would have guessed until I saw an interview.

Yeah, I love the show, but every time he says "Bro" it sounds very unnatural to him.

If the only Daniel Day-Lewis movie you saw was There Will be Blood, you'd probably be pretty shocked when you heard him speak in his normal voice.

About half of the Walking Dead cast are British. Probably a slight exaggeration, but there are at least 4.

He modeled that voice exclusively on John Huston.

The film itself was a riff on Treasure of the Sierra Madre, directed by Huston, in which he also appeared and directed his own father.

It's a great film that is sometimes overlooked.
