Actors with fake American accents...

My buddy's mind was just blown when I showed him interviews with Christian Bale and Colin Farrell and you could see the fuses blowing...
I thought about it.. Bale hasn't been in many "British" (/European) movies and Farrell hasn't been in nearly any "Irish" (/European) movies...
If you haven't seen In Bruges or Daredevil, Farrell will really frick with your head when you hear him speak natively...
Anyone else?
Note: this all started when I heard "Jax" from SOA interviewed on 'After the Anarchy" (or whatever the frick it's called)... I'd never watched the show before tonight... and yes, I'm going to go back and watch all the seasons (I was busy watching Breaking Bad)

I had no idea Hugh Laurie was British for the longest time.

A couple of those country singers on Nashville are British and Australian.

Hugh Laurie and Dominic West are both pretty bad, despite their acclaim. They mask problems with gruffness. West in particular I knew something was wrong before I found out he was British. It was very distracting in The Wire.

Same feeling on West. Not as much on Laurie. But I think the House character was better overall so maybe that has something to do with it.

I haven't heard Mel Gibson's native Australian since Mad Max.
Never seen an interview where his accent is particularly Australian.
He's basically completely switched over it seems.

When I first heard Charlie Hunnam (Jax from Sons of Anarchy) was British and heard his accent my mind was blown. Then I saw Green Street Hooligans where he laid on an extra thick English accent.

I had no idea until I opened this thread that Christian Bale was Welsh. Makes a lot more sense why people call Gareth Bale "Christian Bale" jokingly.

Andrew Garfield
Henry Cavill
James McAvoy
Michael Fassbender
All of these blew my mind, especially McAvoy considering how damn thick his real Scottish accent is. His American accent was so perfect in Band of Brothers and Wanted

How do you come up with an American accent?
Does it seem as weird for British people when Americans try to speak with a British accent?

I met him while he was doing re-shoots for season three of The Walking Dead. The guy spoke to me in an American accent without the southern twang. I remember thinking, "Come on guy. Out with it. I know you're English."

Portia de Rossi purposefully worked on losing her Australian accent
