But San Francisco is dirty...

People on this board praise san Diego all the time when we discuss great cities but this puts S.D. to shame.
With my job, I worked and lived in Seattle for 6 months and San Diego for 8 months. And San Diego is my choice for the better of the two. san Diego has absolutely the best weather in the country. Not too hot, not too cold, very little dreary weather.
That being said, Seattle is a great city, I love the view of Mt Rainier, but there will be many, many days when it can't be seen because of the clouds.

Seattle is awesome. The dreary fall and winters do suck though.

Seattle is without a doubt my favorite city in the US. I would jump at the opportunity to live there.

I am getting it done this week. UGH. Piece of crap.

Beautiful city filled with misdirected liberals.
Will be destroyed either by massive earthquake or volcanic eruption.

Seattle shreds any of California's major cities. Wonderful town. Some people would find the weather a drawback, but I'm not one of them.
It wasn't always this way, but Seattle>>>>>San Francisco and has done for at least 20 years.

The only thing san Diego has over Seattle is weather. San Francisco is beautiful but I'll take the natural beauty of mt ranier over the manmade golden st bridge as a tiebreaker.

I agree with you. Seattle is the prettiest/nicest big city in the US. I hope to relocate there one day.

Salt Lake City is prettier.

Big fan of Seattle, weather aside how could you not be?
Posted on 9/7/14 at 9:43 am to 632627
Lived there for 4 years. The weather does get dreary most of the year but drive 5 miles inland (Cascades) and you get your nice weather. Plus you can't beat having awesome ski resorts all around you.

Wouldn't say prettier myself but it is the cleanest city I've ever been to. I love that they care. Definitely a fan of Salt Lake.

I have family in Whidbey Island not from from there. Awesome place.

I was in slc as a teenager and remember it being the cleanest major city I've ever seen. I don't remember anything particularly scenic (although this was 20 years ago and i was only passing through for a day on the way to yellowstone so I could have easily missed it ).

I've lived in the Seattle area for the last 3 years.
It is the cleanest most beautiful place I've lived. Everyone is pleasant and the summers are awesome.
The bad:
The winter can grind on you. Its grey and the days are really short.
The "Seattle Freeze" is not a phenomenon. People are very nice on the surface but have no real desire to develop a true friendship with you.
Its far. It takes us a full day to travel to visit family and now that we have a kid it makes it a complete pain in the arse.

The mountains east of the city are beautiful. I think Seattle is spectacular too, but if I was given a choice I'd take SLC. It's subjective though.
