90% of those states are red states.

The reason is they see how much free shite the government if giving away to people who do nothing.

How do they calculate the taxes, per person, or aggregate?

some are due to trashy populations (LA, MS, AL, WV, TN, Maine)

some (SD, Montana) are almost assuredly due to the federal government owning so much fricking land in those states

It's because those states have small economies without major industry.

Therefore, there will be more poor people, and less taxes paid.

Has nothing to do with the political views of the residents or how they vote.

America's economy would be brought to its knees over night without Louisiana, the other states not so much. The country gets plenty of resources through Louisiana

Where would New York and Connecticut be if the government didn't give the banks sweetheart loan deals and cover all of Wall Street's bad bets?

I had a friend who was from New Mexico, they said it was the worst place to live and survive and couldn't wait to leave...but I've never been to Mississippi.

Some of those states are because the Government owns so much land, and they are sparsely populated.

The southern states are due to demographics, lots of military bases, and lack of manufacturing.

The exodus of business from up North to the south will make this list look much different in 10 years as the South becomes more industrialized due to conservative policies.

I love these articles cause even if you take them at face value all it does is show how stupid the people in the blue states are for continuing to support a federal government that keeps people in red states dependent on their tax dollars.

1) Return on Taxes Paid to the Federal Government - Gee, gosh, golly, maybe that's why most of the states are smaller in population? they paid less in Fed taxes?

2) Federal Funding as a Percentage of State Revenue - Gee, gosh, golly, maybe because red states chose not to crush their citizenry with taxes, maybe?

3) Number of Federal Employees Per Capita - WTF kinda metric is that? Numbers for small states are easily tilted for Coast Guard, border guards, deseg cases, voting rights monitoring, atomic energy, This is BS

Most tax money shouldn't be going to the feds in the first place. It should stay in the states.

Looking at this list almost all of these states have lots of federal land (national parks, military installations, government offices/agencies), in addition to all the poor people (whites, blacks and Indians).

I would say it has a lot to do with the power invested in each Senator and the fact that the smallest of states have two each. I bet if you looked up the Senators for each of these states you would find the ones who are the largest sellouts.
