Toyota Highlander fits the bill. It's a nice vehicle. Sister has one of the base models. Sister in law has one of the higher end models. Both are nice and very comfortable rides. Toyota sells scotch-guarded seats on their cloth models, so leather isn't necessarily required (though it is definitely easier to clean). They really only offer comfortable seating for 4 adults, maybe 5. You can fit 3 car seats along the middle row, but if you're using the seat belt to buckle the child in a booster, it's a challenge to get to the buckle between them, but it's totally possible. I sat in the back row of one recently, and, as a 6'1 guy, it was very uncomfortable. I wouldn't have volunteered to do it for any more of a drive than across town.
Very much of the same story with the back row of the GMC Acadia. That SIL only has one kid though, so I can't really comment on how the car seats fit in tandem in that car.
I prefer the interior and the drive of the highlander to the Acadia. SIL also has problems with a short in the stereo in her Acadia. Don't know whether it's a common thing or not. Really don't know about maintenance or pricing.

My wife has a Tahoe and was looking to downsize. Test drove MDX and Infinity. MDX blew Infinity away. Absolutely no comparison. The MDZ has better handling and transmission. Infinity has a litlle more room. It feels more like a minivan when compared to MDX. When all was said and done, both felt tiny compared to the Tahoe. Kids much prefer captain second row seats too. Looked at Arcadia, but haven't test drove it yet.

We have a 2013 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum Premium with 3rd row seating.
Great vehicle, no issues whatsoever and basically the same as the Infiniti QX 60.

Nissan is having major problems with their version of the CVT.
Call me fortunate, but I have two Nissans (both with CVT) and no issues whatsoever.

I drive a sequoia that we would still use on long trips. Looking at something where I can fold half the back seat down and still have room for groceries, stroller, etc.
Wife really doesn't want a Tahoe/Sequoia sized suv

Same here, 09 Murano with 112k miles, no issues. And a 14 Pathfinder but only 3k miles.
A couple of friends have an Enclave, and while nice vehicles, both have said they wouldn't buy another. From what they have said it seems like something is always breaking.

Would prefer Japanese reliability/resale value over the Enclave. Might have to look into the Acura, if the Nissan/Infiniti issues are legit. Thanks for the feedback.

Enclave is the class of the field for the near-luxury, medium-sized SUV segment.
Infiniti is too much Nissan, IMO, but not a bad vehicle.
Honda Pilot is on a dated chassis and fails miserably in crash tests. It would not be an option for me.

This would probably be my choice due to superior crash rating.
The Volvo only lacks the cool user interfaces of the GM product, but it is dead-solid on safety. Given the inherent failings of three row vehicles, the Volvo would be the pick.

Agree with mobiletiger. I was just in the market for the same thing and pulled the trigger in the gl450. Love it so far

We have a 2013 Pathfinder also. No issues and my 6 yr old operates the middle and rear seats easily

I, too, was looking at the Enclave and QX60 for my wife. Both are very nice vehicles, and I think I would have been happy with either. My wife preferred the larger feel of the Enclave...and that's what we bought. Price wasn't a major factor in our decision...but the Infiniti Option Packages are tricky, forcing you to buy crap that you don't want or need in order to get something else that do (want or need). That, and Enclave's 0% financing will yield a not-so-insignificant price advantage for the Buick. As for roominess, we did a week-long Gatlinburg vacation in June...five adults and luggage, and had no problem. The third seat splits 60/40, and with the "40" side down, we had ample room for the luggage (could not have fit all the luggage behind the third seat, alone), My 16 year-old daughter made a nest on the "60" side, and probably had the most comfortable seat on the trip. That third seat is fairly easy to access, but if you're wanting to put an infant seat back there, you need to try that out before making any decisions, I just don't know how easy getting a child in and out of that seat would be.
We like the styling, quiet ride, and roominess of our Enclave...but don't expect any great mileage. I think we got close to 21 mpg on the trip, but average about 15.7 mpg in the city.

Wife has a Honda Pilot. It's been a great vehicle for her toting 3 kids around. Rear seat is split, as well.
