so we should start getting pissed ahead of time, just in case?

How in the world can you compare a 5th year senior with 6 starts and a lot of playing time outside of that to a player that started 1 game and had a few snaps outside of that?
Not really comparing based on PT, but on ability. I'd venture to say that Jennings and Harris are far closer in ability than Russell and Randall were. No?
Keep in mind, in 2003 before we all knew how well Mauck had healed from his foot injury in 2002 against UF, many believed Russell had a shot to play in front of a VERY mediocre Marcus Randall even as a true freshman. When Mauck came back and it was obvious that he foot was ok and the lack of mobility had forced him to become a b etter passer, Russell was able to RS.
But by 2004, it's not exactly crazy to think Russell was the far better option than Randall. Hell...it's literally the same argument many are making here for why LSU ought to just go with Harris and take whatever lumps come while going with the guy with the higher ceiling and longer future. That was even truer in 2004. Russell came out and played outstanding ball against OSU and it was clear he was the better player...but Saban went safe and kept Randall as the defacto starter and safety valve.
I get what you're saying...that the difference in experience closes the gap in regards to ability. I disagree. Russell was better than Randall in a much larger margin than Jennings is more experienced than Harris.
Even so, I completely understand why Miles would be starting Jennings. It's the safe bet, and how many football coaches don't go with the safe bet?

I can envision the Mile''s presser after a win with a sluggish offensive talking about how Harris never got in because the staff didn't think the conditions were right...basically another version of the same speech used to justify leaving JJ in even though we struggled to get first downs. I sure hope not, but everyone should be ready in the event the offense can't get going, it will be an aggravating reminder of how these situations are handled

Well this thread turned into a slippery slope of shite.

Jennings may provide exactly what this offense needs. Ball security, enough throwing to be dangerous, and control

it's the beginning of a new season when the Miles haters are filled with optimism that this is the year he finally reveals his true colors and the team goes 4-8...

We have alot of miserable fans who just happen to also be stupid, so the QB threads are so much fun for them for some reason.
See the other 675 threads in the last 6 months filled with nimrods still fighting about Jefferson vs Lee.

I hate when I make it all the way through a thread then have to go back to the beginning because I forgot to downvote the OP

Jennings will have a huge game. Book it, boys.

I have a feeling we will be seeing a conservative offense like we did against Iowa

Check out the link commenting on Harris's performance against Covington...
Link
Harris almost loss the game because of his lack of ball security but to his credit he is the only reason why they won. But Harris won't be going against overachieving high schoolers any longer...

Yes, those things will absolutely repeat themselves. No chance he has learned and improved.
I don't think the Iowa game was as bad as many view it. Sure he wasn't great, but that was a tough spot for a true freshman. Those who expected him to chunk it for 300 weren't dealing with reality.

i like this meme. you know, the one where we state an obvious and completely reasonable decision but then tack on "and it's no surprise knowing Miles," as if to say it's dumb?
here's my entry:
the team will wear white jerseys tomorrow night and its no surprise knowing Miles.
now you go!

Jennings really has been ignored in favor of the shiny new toy. He's had all spring and summer to improve since Iowa. Harris is really talented, and may very well end up being better in the long run, but this is still his first game against college competition. I wouldn't be surprised to see Jennings come out with something to prove.

So deep down you feel that way? How else would you know what they are feeling.
I personally LOVE Miles as the coach, that doesn't mean I think he's perfect. I've seen how he handles personnel decisions, there's a track record there so it's not a long shot to know how he will treat this situation.
These 2 qbs are close in talent and there isn't a long history at LSU with both. Just remember, JJ was arrested after being out and breaking team rules....JL had us undefeated and that wasn't enough to warrant a single snap in the championship in which our offense couldn't cross mid field.
I hope to God I'm wrong, but I can definitely see Miles refusing to make a switch. Doesn't mean its the wrong decision, but I choose to temper my expectations on situations like these. Hell I can remember when Miles would say how Shep would possibly see more action at qb.
My thoughts is LSU wins and Miles continues his great success at LSU.
I look for us to struggle against the run, and Welter to be the center of focus for the rant.

They both have the "Want" to play..... Basically they are going to try and score touchdowns. If not they will attempt field goals. They may have to punt some of the time.
I think whoever scores the most at the end of the game will win.....
