I agree with what others have said - to an extent it's an intrinsic part of human nature. The funny thing (and you can see it in this thread) is that "both" sides or really, all the different sides tend to view the other side(s) as being the problem but don't acknowledge that it exists within their own group.
Of course I also believe that race is often used as a sort of imperfect substitute when people are really talking about different cultural groups.

Hypothetical.
Your dream house comes open for sale, and you can afford it. Only thing is everybody in the community is Black or Mexican.
Would you buy the house?

If you see a hot chick on the street do you immediately think, "gosh. I'd really like her to meet my parents." ?
Point is that humanity is superficial and we jump to quick conclusions based on initial appearance.
As it stands, a lot of white people look at an average black guy and their first thought is, " I wonder if I can trust this guy?"
And a lot of black guys might see a cop and think, " I wonder what degree of hassle I'm about to get?"

Racism will exist for as long as there is life on this planet.

Not if 480's lifespan is our "lifetime".

No. To all who spoke of tribalism and the human condition, have an upvote. That's the correct answer.
That said, this country has, in less than 150 years, advanced it's social system from one from where a certain ethic group has gone from being considered chattel to one if it's members being able to be elected to the land's highest office.
You, I, or the government can't change people's hearts. All we can do....ALL we can do....is change the laws such that racism isn't publicly endorsed. We've done that. Some would say we've OVERDONE that. While that point can be argued, what can't be argued is that as a country, we saw a wrong, and killed 600,000 of our own to right it. No doubt, the civil war was tragic. As politically conservative and right leaning as I may be, I'd contend that a country that didn't allow people the right to pursue happiness because of their skin color is somewhere between completely ignorant and indescribably aborant.

As long as it is in the best interest of the Govt. to keep the races at each others throats the answer is no.

Only if people get eradicated.

There are divisive groups on both sides that see more money, fame, and notoriety in fanning the flames of racism in today's constant news cycle. There will always be a division as long as there is profit and publicity in racism. Racism exists on both sides of the issue, it is not an only white thing.
Next observation that is totally my own: Black racists are becoming more vocal than ever.

No.
Two (2) things we will never stop arguing about (1) racism and (2) Washington Redskins name change.

How is this even a question?
No, it will never ever die.

Depends on whether or not those filthy dagos learn to stay in their own neighborhoods and mind their betters in public. If this happens, I could see racism coming to an end.
Oh yeah, and send all the mics back to that potato-farm of a county of theirs.
