Product of the I'm offended generation. Ppl go out of their way looking for something to be offended by.

The irony here is that this was a bigger distraction than just letting the student say bless you.

Suspention for saying bless you is dumb and anyone offended by that is being rediculous.
I do have a feeling the girl may not have been as respectful of the teacher in general as she should have been.

what is happening to this country?
Next a kid will be suspended for saying "Oh my GOD, it's hot in here." or for including "under God" in the pledge.
I was once granted in school suspension for saying "Oh my God" when a teacher assigned us a shite load of busy work.

I don't believe in god but this is ridiculous. Completely unconstitutional. Props to this girl for standing up to an unjust rule.
How long ago were you in school? Were you ever in public school? They do not give a shite about your rights.

End of the world is near!

Well it says it was a class rule.
But "bless you" has become an involuntary response for most of the Anglophone world due to a particular belief held in the English countryside during the High Middle Ages.
If "bless you" is against the rule, then goodbye (God be with you) would also be against the rule.

Don't be fooled brothers and sisters, there is indeed a War on Christians being waged by dark forces. I will say an extra Rosary this weekend in hopes that this poor victim is healed from the emotional wounds she has suffered due to the actions of her snake teacher.

I wonder if "curse you" is ok?

why do i get the feeling miss turner was not nearly as polite about her constitutional right as we are lead to believe?

Teacher must be ugly & none of the students wants to have sex with her

Which is just dumb. It's simply meant as a common courtesy.
For what though? I'm asking sincerely. In what way does someone sneezing require anything to be said by someone else, unless they have had some sort of medical issue caused by the sneeze? It's origins are completely religious and attributed to such crazy things as worrying about the devil getting into your body when you sneeze.
Yet, even though I'm an atheist I said it for years because it felt like I HAD TO or else those around me would think I was being rude. I got over that, and simply say nothing now because it feels idiotic to say it for no reason. I me not saying anything when someone sneezes near me makes others think I'm a dick, so be it.
That being said, I always politely thank anyone that says it to me.
As for this rule, I'd bet the origin of it, as stated by someone else earlier, was kids using it as an opportunity to be disruptive. And since schools have become a place where common sense is overruled more often than not with one size fits all policies so as not to have people judge things on individual basis, this happens.

A girl I had just met sneezed, so I said "God bless you." She then tells me she's atheist and I should say "bless you" I looked at her again and said "God bless you."
My faith so I will present that how I want.
Congrats...you're both assholes.

You don't have the same rights as a minor in classrooms.
That said, I'm atheist and say bless you when people sneeze. Who gives a shite. She wasn't preaching gospel
