Don't forget about the sharks...lots and lots of sharks. And jellyfish. And tons of neon airbrushed t-shirt shops. Definitely avoid the place.

Dune Allen on 30a is an amazingly uncrowded beach.

not anymore. 30A was the shite 10 - 15 years ago and we absolutely loved spending time there, but it has changed over the last 5 years big time. Unfortunately, the crowds have found 30A and we're moving east of PCB.

Cape San Blas, just east of Port St. Joe - really nice, secluded, white sand, nice surf, good fishing, has lots of beach houses for rent.

And despite the rumors posted here, I've never seen any of those venomous beach snakes.

It's a well-kept secret. But don't tell anybody, because then the numerous beach rodents will come get you, and jellyfish and sharks will eat you or sting you - and the nearest hospital is not real close. LOL.

Depending on where you are, it is still relatively low key. All the spaces between the more popular beaches aren't terrible. Now dining out and what not is still a challenge during peak times.

Blue Mountain/Dune Allen/Seacrest/etc. aren't slammed too bad. Inlet Beach, which is the end of 30A is really low key.

Most of my 30A time is off season, which is awesome.

Really am serious - it's not Panama City, Destin, or Pensacola as far as touristy stuff goes, but there are lots of very nice beach houses available. I did not say cheap, though. But relatively affordable by regular people, depending on your income.

If you want a longer trip, come down Bradenton way to Anna Maria Island - Holmes Beach, Bradenton Beach, Cochina Beach and Longboat Key are all here. A touch of old Florida, plenty of classic and newer beach houses, low-rise condos and lodging rooms available, great fishing. Offers great beach, beautiful water, lots of places to eat and shop nearby. No extreme wild nightlife, though. It's a gem.

Navarre Beach, for being a gulf coast beach, isn't overcrowded IMO. Actually, the offseason in Navarre Beach is quite relaxing.

In general the beaches get prettier the further South that you go.

The panhandle/big bend area of the State is getting a lot of interest lately.

I havent been to Mexico Beach in many years but a decade ago it was pretty and relatively undeveloped.

What is Blue Mountain like? I'm staying down there at a condo complex called the Adagio in a few weeks. First time going to Blue Mountain, not sure what to expect in terms of quality of the beaches, crowd, places to eat.

Blue Mountain is fine, a few stretches are more crowded than others. Adagio is fairly large so it'll be a little more crowded (though obviously less so if you're not going for labor day).

Adagio is nice, we've looked at staying there a few times for various things.

Blue Mountain doesn't have the dining and shopping of the Rosemary/Alys side of 30A, but it's still close enough to anything on 30A. Beaches should be as nice as anything else down there.

Cool thanks. We are going a couple weeks after Labor Day so hopefully crowds will be minimal.

They'd have to drive to DA since there are so few rentals and no big buildings. That means they end up in the parking lot entrance. The beach entrance closer to Stinkys doesn't have a lot, and it's pretty much desolate. The beach is amazing right there. Rentals are tough though, two of the three places we've rented have completely remodeled and are likely off of the rental market.

We just rent houses in Fort Morgan now, bay side. It's just cooler to us. We skipped the beach this year. I think I'd rather take the family on better vacations. I live in a beach town, so now that my son is old enough to hike and fish and rock climb we'll vacation earlier and later in the year to stay away from the cooker times. It's fishing time come summer and that's the best time to be around here.
