Test drove the TSS package yesterday. So awesome. Sticker was at 39k, said they would come down, plus had 3k in rebates. Is the gas mileage still shitty?

I got 18.5 in mine on the road, big 4 door, 4 wh dr, oversized tires. I never measured in town mpg, I didn't want to know.

The TSS (Toyota's version of FX4) you can get in crew max or half door. I drove both. Crew max is like a SUV with a short bed.

Don't think the gas mileage is any worse than the other half tons. Highway mileage will depend on gearing - probably around 17/18.

That would possibly be my next truck if they looked better.
I don't drive very far, so mileage isn't too much of an issue.
I know they are powerful and reliable, I just can't stand the body style.

Bought mine last month, Crew Max, SR5, Louisiana Edition, leather... freaking love it. Mileage is about 17-18mpg. Rides like a champ, so far so good!
Pulls my bay boat great, of course I had a Nissan Titan so it's a step up for sure.

The new designs changes on the body are nice looking, IMO. Toyota seems to be more realistic on the invoice, also. IDK if I want the short, or long bed. The TSS trim is a must for me.

I like the looks! I had an older one at it averaged 12MPG.? Sucked gas so I dumped it. Sold it easy as some don't care if they spend $100 at the pump every other day. My Yukon XL averaged 17.9 so are these at 17 hiway or average? The new GMC say 23 hiway , wonder if that is exaggeration or close? Makes a difference when you drive 36k a year.

My brother bought a new Tundra Platinum a couple of months ago and my neighbor bought a Limited.
Both love them. Gas mileage is a little better on the new ones but still isn't great. My Sequoia gets about 14-15 in the city. When driving on the highway, it get about 13-14 when driving at 75.
I'm sure it is at 50-55mph.

OG, how big is the space under the backseat?
I need to get a fellow a toolbag/box to keep in his truck.

Just some advice for you TSS guys...
The TSS series is not a FACTORY Toyota option package.
Dealerships in Louisiana, Texas & Mississippi are a part of Toyota's Gulf States Toyota region. This region is a privately owned "franchise" region (One of only two regions in the country that aren't directly owned by Toyota. The other being Southeast Toyota in the Florida area). Being that they are privately owned, they're allowed to use and install NON-OEM(Aftermarket) accessories on vehicles and offer full warranties on them.
That's all fine and dandy when it comes to being a larger selection of accessories, however it creates a nightmare for customers seeking replacement parts more than 3-5 years down the line.
I can't tell you how many times a customer would come to me seeking a replacement wheel center cap or leather seat cover replacement for a car that was only 4 or 5 years old and we couldn't get them anymore because the aftermarket manufacturer that was used at the time either isn't making the product anymore or has gone out of business.
It was such a pain in the arse!
If at all possible, Stick with the TRD Offroad Package. That is an OEM, Factory Toyota package with Genuine Toyota Accessories.

I bought regular cab limited edition Tundra on Feb 28, almost 6 months ago and I've got almost 28,000 Miles on it. It had 17 Miles when I bought it. It's a 4x4 and I get 15.4mpg on it. It rides a hell of a lot better than my Ford did and it's a comfortable ride. I love the truck and will definitely get another one after 300,000miles.

At least it is built in America, but damn it is UGLY! The tailgate and bed look cool, but damn they did an awful job on the rest of the truck.

To each his own I guess. I've got a TSS crewmax and I love it. It is the best looking truck out right now in my opinion.
I average 16-17 mpg.
