Agreed. Usually eat it alone with cheese and onions (sometimes chopped garlic). Sometimes with Fritos.

You call yourself Epic Cajun and you've never heard of or had chili on rice?

I may have had chili over rice once, but never had it growing up. Usually served with saltines.

I've never put chili over cornbread, but I've had cornbread as a go with.

I LOVE chili with Fritos the most.

It's a play on words from one of my alma maters and a career path

I wouldn't classify myself as an "epic cajun", although I did grow up in cajun country

ETA: chili and rice is not common around Lafayette

Open a can of blue runner and put in the chili, then serve over rice. I grew up on that stuff.

I'm from Lafayette and agree, I've never seen anyone put their chili on rice before. Usually just eat it straight up or on fritos.

Agreed. I grew up there, and I have family all over HWY 90 down to Houma. None of them, not one, has EVER heard of chili over rice.

You contacted everyone in your family to ask this? Slow day?

good lord, I haven't thought of that combo since I was in grammar school (St.Gregory) in Houma. They'd serve it to us for lunch on the reg. Its pretty good actually, but I'd prefer Fritos.

Mom's from Panama. Never had chili any other way than over rice. Then again, we ate everything over rice. Her rice is so good you can just eat it plain. At the bottom, concolon.

I've tried both, and chili over rice doesn't do it for me.

Chili over corn chips, on the other hand, can be a very nice treat.

Not a fan of rice in the first place but have seen it done. But Chili over pasta with cheese on top = Amazing!
