My wife and kids eat their chili with shredded cheese, sour cream and crackers.

I always serve mine over rice and they think I am crazy.

had it with rice, not my favorite, rather it plain.

with fritos occasionally, too much sodium.

had it with egg noodles, not too shabby.

I've had chili over rice lots of times and prefer it to Fritos. Then again, I will eat just about anything over rice. Love it.

A version of Skyline, which someone mentioned earlier. I'm a fan of that, also.

Add my voice to the "With Rice" crowd in this long thread that I refuse to take the time to read. shite is good with rice. It's also good without.

From Houma, LA and like I've stated before had never heard of this before. Asked my mom, her brother, and her sister this weekend who are all from the heart of NOLA and they all three said they had heard of it and it was a Yankee thing. They said they had never tried it, nor would they. I would at least try it I think. But after speaking with them I'm pretty confident that this is a method of a typical northern Yankee, not southern LA folks. Possible roots include: Michigan and Ohio.

Yes it is. Im from here and alot of people I know eat it like that. It was served from elementary school through high school with a scoop of rice and cornbread every single time.

May I ask how long ago you were in school?

Maybe I should have qualified that it isn't popular now? In my 25+ years I've never heard of it. Nor was it served at any school that I attended.
