I wanted to say it's Cincinnati style, but I think that is over pasta. Can't recall what it is called.

fricking Skyline.

Rice, cips, pasta, whatever. I've eaten chili over a bunch of things. Chili is a budget meal to me that can be frozen and then served over whatever I have on hand to cut it with. Basmati rice is a nice rice to use if you use rice.

I find it kinda odd how it seems that a lot of southern LA people have never heard of chili over rice.

This is my take exactly. I grew up in south Louisiana and I remember eating rice with nearly every meal at home growing up, especially chili. The only time is I had chili on top of fritos(frito-pie) was at football games, basketball games, and fairs. Usually with a dill pickle and a coke. Just typing that makes me hungry, and miss the old days before having to worry about what I ate.

Someone else posted eating chili on top of cornbread, man I love that too.

We would eat chili over rice with a side of cornbread...

We did the same thing with beans and whatnot. I never thought this was strange until my wife freaked out and showed me to put the beans over the cornbread. That kinda changed everything

Chili over rice was how it was had in elementary school cafeteria for me.

But the best way to have chili....A big ole hunk of homemade cornbread with butter melted on it. The scoop you some chili on top of that...Sweet Jesus

I always had my cornbread on the side. Gonna have to try this topping method.

I've never heard of it, but I don't think anyone is "shocked" or disugsted.

I would try it, but I doubt it would be my preference. I like chili plain, maybe with some kind of crunchy texture. (fritos, or saltines)

I'm not a big rice lover in general. I usually omit them from my Red Beans.

I've only ever had chili by itself or with cheese and a dollop of sour cream. Rice just seems like a way to stretch it. Sometimes I would use some fritos or tostitos to eat my chili like a meat dip.

Chili over rice for me as well but I could interchange with chili and cornbread. Although Frito pie is good too.

I like chili.

I'd probably have to go with chili by itself and maybe fritos on the side. They get in the way of my big spoonfulls of chili when I combine them.
I've had chili with rice, and I like it. But then again I make weird combinations of food and like it.

I'm not your typical eater.

Oh that shite is weird, no doubt. I would try it though. I don't think it would be disgusting or anything.

It's kind of the equivalent to cut-up hotdogs in spaghetti, or the boiled egg in spaghetti. shite is definitely not the norm, but is considered really good to some. FTR, I'm a fan of the hotdog in spaghetti, haven't really enjoyed the boiled egg version though.

Yeah, it definitely isn't some crazy thing.. just nothing I ever heard of before posting here.

As I said, I don't like rice with much. We were not rice people growing up.

My mom still eats red beans without rice. And white beans were a side dish in my home growing up.. not a meal.

Chili was served alone, but we always bought a bag of fritos and shredded cheese and sour cream for it.

Jones is shocked I eat chili as a meal. He only knew of chili as a condiment. If I make it now, he buys hot dogs because he thinks it's weird to eat a "condiment" as a meal

I enjoy an occasional peanut butter and onion sandwich.
I eat 90% of my meals out of tupperware, with everything combined.
I can eat tuna out of the can
