What has any of us ever done to give ourselves even one breath?
Our very existence is a gift.
Believe in God or not, but be grateful either way.
Talking about blessings and blessedness should be a way of staying grounded and remembering to be thankful. Granted, some people probably say it to draw attention to themselves, but that's their own problem and not yours.

I had this big fat black lady at the grocery store tell me to have a blessed day one time and I thought she said I was dressed gay so I hit her in the face with a cantaloupe. People all gathered round her big sprawled out rotund arse saying like WFT happened sweetie are you ok and I was like sweetie? Don't you mean sweaty? Look her big fat Nell Carter arse. And they were like what did you do to her you monster. And I was like shite I didn't do anything I guess she got a case of melonoma. And they all started getting all up in arms and shite so I snatched up my groceries and left.

I have no idea why someone would be upset with this. Blessed means blissfully happy. Someone is wishing you a blissfully happy day and that upsets you?

I just respond with "mmmmm hmmmm"

You guys need to expand your vocabulary a little more. You can't believe that people in this day and age are happy?
quote:
Saying you are blessed is insulting
Only because you don't understand what they are saying.

im sure most people that say all that bull have a significant lower iq than most. i have been saying that for years. most truly educated people are not religious at all. just saying.

Funny you say that. The most truly educated and intelligent people I've ever known have been very religious.

This old lady comes into my store every week with a motor scooter and has all these stickers that say "I'm blessed [year]" like 2012, 2013, etc.
I'm like, bitch you can't even walk

I can't believe people in this day and age think they are "blessed". Unfortunately people think because they are fortunate and lucky to have been born in this country that they in general ignore the fact that the vast majority of people on this planet suffer daily. Saying you are blessed is insulting.
Wow. You are an ignorant sad sounding tool.

The First Cut, I agree totally. We really do have some sad souls on this board. I really am blessed and I ain't afraid to say it.

pretty sure that's from a scripture.
quote:
"I'm blessed and highly favored
Yeah, in Luke the angel told Mary she was highly favored.
3 books later, in Romans, Paul said that God doesn't play favorites (2:11).
So, unless they're carrying the immaculately conceived Son of God in their womb, they are no more favored than the rest of us. Hence my point.
People that say this are pulling a little Pharisee move, so that their greeting can show how Christlike they are, just in case their lifestyle doesn't.
Before you call me too much of a cynic, I'll say that the truest Christians I've known didn't say they were, or include clues in their greeting. They didn't have to.

In my experience it has been the exact opposite
