I lived behind Ivar's in 93-94. Have been back many times over the last 20 years.
It was a great neighborhood bar during the week, but was incredibly shitty when it would get overcrowded on the weekends. Never understood why people flocked there on Friday and Saturday nights. There was never anything special about the weekend night time scene.
We used to eat lunch there a lot, I loved the club sandwich. However george's across the street had much better food and ZeeZee had a better atmosphere for drinking.
I hated the layout when it was crowded, that place is screaming for a month long shut down with a total clean out.

One of my friends was a bar tender there for a while and always hooked us up. I guess knowing the right people always helps since everybody here complains about the price of drinks

I always liked the bar until they started putting up the fences underneath the overpass on St. Patrick's Day. I can't understand for the life of me how that was a good idea.

I'm in the minority that actually enjoyed Ivars. Used to be stacked with good looking girls, and I could always get my drinks how I wanted them. I don't drink tap beer at bars, so that was never a problem. My only quam was the drink prices
Now that it has been empty, I usually stop by to say hello and then head across the street to ZZ's

Which is more of a frat type bar, Ivar's, Duvic's or Zee Zee's? I'm looking for that type of FAF bar in BR for late 20-mid 30's crowd.

I like all the bars around there. Zeezee and Duvics get too smokey but I like them long as I can breathe.
