Haven't been in years. Do they still have the girl bartenders pushing 40?

I am guessing you haven't been in awhile?

That place was bad by even dive bar standards
1. Too high of drink prices
2. Flithy
3. POS pool table
4. I never ordered a tap beer so I don't know about the tap lines but everybody else complains of them.
5. I was always too drunk to notice my ticket or keep up with the receipt so I don't know how much they stiffed me, but i am sure they did

I hope they fix the problems I listed and other than that stay the same.

Good. That bar fricking sucked. Shitty service , no itemized receipts, and dirty tap lines.

And on back to back posts, no less. Take a bow, both of you.

There is one chunky blonde that has been working there for at least 10 years it seems. She always struck me as being kind of a bitch...but oh well.

In its time, Ivar's was a great neighborhood sports bar, but that time has come and gone. I watched LSU baseball's first national title game there in 1991 and I remember watching the OJ Bronco chase there in 1994 while taking in the Rockets/Knicks NBA final series. Ah memories...

From what I am told from a very reliable source, Quigley didn't necessarily want to sell the bar, but the new owner made him an offer that he couldn't refuse. By all accounts, there will be major changes...it won't just be "same old Ivar's"

Whatever happened with the rumor that Walkons bought Ivars? LINK

Is that the new owner they're talking about in the OP's post? (Sorry, I'm not familiar with the names of the owners of each bar, and only skimmed the linked thread.)

That blond was one of the two I was thinking of. She seems miserable. There was a brunette who was there about ten years. Might be gone by now.

I remember one of the last times I was there I watched the Texas/Alabama NC game on several 13" tube tvs in the room with the tables. It was amazing how awful the tvs were even back then....for a "sports bar"

i was there like a week ago

prices could be lower but other than that the prissy OT complaints never resonated with me. It's a great bar.

Meh, I could go to the bulldog down the street and get better beer for the same price as a bud light at ivars. Plus it is cleaner and has better survice. shite uncle earls is a better bar than ivars now.

Ivar has all the makings of a great dive bar but instead over priced with pissy unfriendly bartenders.

I already said the prices are a legit complaint.

I don't mind bulldog but (the BR location at least) is forced and somewhat pretentious. I prefer my bars to have a more organic personality.

I was never a fan of the Bulldog. Too far away from where I lived (so was Ivar's), chain bar which I am not a fan of. However there sloots on wed night usually made it worth while.

I do too but that doesn't mean they have to smell like manure. I hope Ivar's just cleans up a bit, gets new pool table, tap lines and better prices.

what a bad list. You haven't even tried the taps. And one of the reasons you list is that you are "sure" they stiffed you? What

Thank God! Hey, I loved it as Glen's in the mid 1980s, and as Ivars from late 1980s to around 2000, but it has sucked badly for about 14 years..at least the last 8 yrs. Haven't been in there but a handful of times since 2000, was somewhat a regular from 1990 to 1996.

Pat, whether his call, or silent partners, never reinvested, place has been badly dated as a "mid to late 1980s sports bar" for far too long.

The forthcoming BR-Barcadia, Pluckers, Walk-Ons @ Towne Center,etc..have also forced this move. Rougeans no longer have to accept slumlorded bars.

I was a regular there until I moved to New Orleans last year. I still go back every other weekend or so. I have noticed that it has been almost empty every time I have gone in the entire year though
