Ferguson was Bradshaw's backup at Woodlawn. Another name that should be mentioned is Vida Blue. He could have been as good as any of them.

Ferguson was not Bradshaw's backup.
Ferguson was younger.
Then came John Booty ( Dad of Abram, Josh and John David, all of whom were AA). Johnny broke all of Bradshaw's records, but not Fergusons.

Thanks, I didn't realize that backups had to be the same age as the starter. So to clarify, Ferguson followed Bradshaw as the QB at Woodlawn.

Didn't Arnaz Battle come from Shreveport? Maybe Byrd High before playing at Notre Dame.
Yes. I played against him growing up.

Battle was elite. You could tell from the moment he walked on to the field. Just another level of athlete.
Another name to throw out is Raymond Philyaw from Southwood.

As mentioned above, the name you are looking for is James Harris. And I admit I do not know Harris' life biography, so perhaps he was born in Shreveport. I do not know.
But he played his high school ball at Carroll. This I know as fact, because he was idolized on the southside of town when I was growing up.
And his nickname was "Shack".

Frome the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame:
He's referred to elsewhere as a Monroe native, but as you point out, maybe he was born somewhere else.

it was a brilliant career for Harris, who grew up in Monroe and went on to All-State acclaim at Carroll High..

Louisiana has more superbowl starting QB's than any other state. Pretty impressive when you compare our population to state's like California, Texas, and Florida

We beat him too but we had a better team. He was the most talented kid on the field.

Prather and Mike Hillman were QB's of the LSU freshman team at the same time. Hillman was the lefty and Prather was a righty.
I seem to remember Prather died due to the serious injuries he suffered in Vietnam where one leg had to be amputated. In the freshman team he was as good or perhaps a tad better than Hillman, and Hillman was the QB as a senior for the 1969 team that only lost to Ole Miss and Archie Manning, a game that LSU had very much in hand leading 23-12 and we wound up losing 26-23.

Terry Bradshaw (not sure about ranking, I know went to Tech but apparently extremely stupid and couldn't get into LSU)
Terry Bradshaw was NOT stupid. In fact, he is a crafty guy. He plays that aw-shucks-country-boy act to the hilt; folks keep buying it; and Bradshaw keeps banking it.

Even with all these names posted, I still maintain that strawns eat shop is the only redeeming quality of that town.
RU Serious? I guess the Miami Ohio smog has your brain on the slow down... Try fishing on the Red River, skiing on Lake Bisteneau, the best looking girls/women just about anywhere, the Flat Iron Steak at Superiors Steak House, the beef fajitas at Superior Grill, the Red River Festival, Frisbee Golf by the Red River, Golf at Southern Trace (incredble layout), public golf at Old Oaks and Huntington Park, drinks at the Cub, steak at the cub, spicy ranch wedge salad at the Cub... and on and on... Man, get in touch with me and we'll show you the time of your life in the Port... But you did pick out the number one... the food and of course the pie at Strawns...
