Bradshaw didn't just hold the state javelin record .
He hold the national record, breaking it but something like 20 feet.
And Bradshaw was not nearly the HS quarterback Ferguson was.
Likewise, John Booty broke Bradshaw's records, but not Ferguson's.
Duron was a good QB, but not in a class with the others.
AL Williams coached Prather, Laird, Bradshaw, Ferguson and Booty.

I was trying to think of Trey Prather. Bradshaw wasn't the only one who thought Trey was the best. My Father often told me on this same subject many years ago that the best one of all (Trey Prather)never played.s

By the way my Dad also told me that the QB who could throw the ball further than anyone he ever saw was another QB,from Mansfield named Vida Blue. He swears Blue threw a ball over 90 yards. Blue was a highly recruited QB, but went Major League Baseball. I think in his second year he won like 19 games for the Oakland "A" and pitched in a World Series.

In 1966 Bradshaw won the state championship as a Sr. Was great. I was a freshman at Bastrop and saw him play. He killed us about 42-7. Freshmen could play baseball and track in the spring. I threw the javelin against Bradshaw in spring '66. He had the strongest arm in America and set the national record for the javelin. Kept the record for about 30 years. I thought he went to LSU as a freshman and flunked out, then went to Tech where Phil Robertson was the QB. I remember him. I remember when he quit and Bradshaw took over, was great. James Harris was at Carroll in Monroe about '67 or '68. We went down in carloads to watch him play in Monroe. The Black school administration would not let us in, we had to stay outside the fence on the sidewalk to watch him play. We had reverse segregation and nobody thought anything about it. It was the way it was then. Harris went on to the San Diego Chargers 4 years later and played in a Super Bowl. He was not from Shreveport, but Monroe-Carroll. I played against Joe Ferguson as a Sophomore when he was a Sr. He won State, was great. I could not believe he went to Arkansas and not LSU then. Still don't know why. Bert Jones from Ruston, not Shreveport, was my age. played against him several times, we guarded each other in Basketball, and played 1st base in baseball. watched him play at LSU several times. He was 2nd team all- district when we were Seniors. I remember Trey Prather playing one yr. at LSU and quit or flunked out. I'm not sure. But, he left LSU about '67 or so, got drafted into Viet Nam and got killed about '69 or so. He had a great arm. So. I got to play against Bradshaw, Ferguson, and Jones and saw Harris and Prather.

Since other non-Shreveport boys have been listed, when it came to pure QB ability - I doubt many were any more blessed than Bob Lane. Coming out of Neville in 1977, he was rated as the:
- #3 QB in the country
- #4 safety in the country
- #4 shortstop in the country

He signed with LSU, but quickly suffered a serious knee injury. He suffered a 2nd one soon thereafter. Transferred to NLU (now ULM) - but never started a single game in college.

But despite this (and the fact he had lost most of his mobility), he was somehow still drafted in the 5th round of the NFL draft. He ended up being a starter for a couple of years in the USFL.

Amazing athlete.

I hope you don't mean Brandon Harris is the best you've seen....for only having played high school I don't think he can even be considered in the same league as a lot of these guys YET. If he becomes as great as everyone thinks he will be then maybe but so much goes into comparing....parkway may have played 2 teams max that could have compared to a team josh booty played against. That's like when people tried to say cederrick Tyson was better than Jacob Hester at evangel cause he broke Jacobs records....but Jacob did it against nationally ranked teams and Tyson didn't against small 1A schools.

You're misunderstanding. I'm saying he is the best HS QB I've seen. Obviously 17 year old Brandon Harris wasn't better than 35 year old Terry Bradshaw, lol

I'm 31, so I'm talking Josh Booty and up. I grew up with Brock, I know how good he was at Evangel. I'm not living in the moment, I'm giving my honest assessment of him. He's better than any HS QB from this area that I've seen play. I've been saying this since October. Brock had a better career, however watching both players, I'd give the edge to Harris. You hear people use the saying "man amongst boys". That's what it was like watching him play in person. It was like watching an elite college kid playing against high school kids. We can agree to disagree.

I guess so. I'm just taking into count that those guys played against de la salle, WM in their prime, Dallas carter which IMO makes a big difference. I also believe Patterson will be a better QB than Harris. He's going to be a junior and is where Harris was (maybe a bit behind) when he was a senior. Don't get me wrong I wasn't trying to put down Harris or your opinion I was just enjoying a friendly debate on QBs in this area and it's quite amazing the amount of talent at QB Shreveport has produced
