Are you a contractor?

How formal do they need to be?
Can you just buy grid paper and draw them yourself?

I built an in ground pool for my parents when I was 17, it's still in service, and still beautiful, although they can get pretty elaborate, a basic pool is pretty, well, basic, simple system

pics? Please don't tell me you're passing of building a fricking pool as "not that hard". Like putting up a fence eh?

There are very few subcontractors and inspections to organize. It's not that hard, but then I didn't need someone else to prepare my plans either.

my Dad took the rest of the family on vacation for a week, he went over the plans and logistics with me before he left and asked did I think I could do it before he got back, I told him I'd be floating in that pool before he got back, we had a backhoe, I had two carpenters and two laborers helping me, we did the plumbing, had an electrician do the tie in, and did it in five days, not like putting up a fence, but not that difficult either

I hope the OP has the same. Yes with the combined knowledge of 5 other people, one can build a pool. At that rate, you are subbing it out basically.

Friends of mine recently had one built in BR. Our other friend, that dabbles in all things construction, watched them work. He said on a simple pool design there was nothing to it. The concrete people supply the concrete, equipment and finishing for $200 a yard...

It takes 28 days for gunite to cure properly. I take it yours was a lining?

negative, I was completely running the job, my Dad was a contractor and I was already running huge commercial jobs for him by that time, those five days were actually sort of a vacation for me, it was fun, simple, and easy, sounds like you might intimidate easily

lining on top of metal and concrete, after the second lining change, we converted it to Diamaondbrite

OK let's clear this up. A guy with a lot of Construction Exp vs Average Joe Handyman piecing together subs.
CE Guy can do this a whole lot easier obviously. You fit this category and seem to be in the minority of this world.
Everyone else and possibly OP is weekend handyman that thinks he will rent a bobcat, find workers etc because he wants to save a few bucks will likely walk into a construction nightmare with this.
We are not talking apples to apples here. In theory if you put in a 20x30 pool with no frills, it's easy IF YOU KNOW PLUMBING AND ELECTRICAL AND IF YOU HAVE A BACKHOE. Those are big ifs, not applicable to everyone.

easy big guy, what you're saying is correct, what I'm saying is it's not rocket science, and with a little self educating, planning, and coordinating, it's not that difficult
