I've seen the Sanderson farms chicken plants. I've known people who's high school job was to clean out the chicken coops. You should realize that these books are often written by people with agendas who are already against a practice and write everything down to demonize it. Not everything that is done is pleasant. Not trying to sound that way, but do you want to pay $4 or $7 for your meat. For you it may be easy to pay $7. But for the average person, that's not affordable.
If anything (obviously not ANYTHING) they are doing is done to increase meat production, then it doesn't bother me that much. I'd rather not have to have my chicken pumped with hormones and antibiotics because they are raised in confined coops together, but it doesn't hurt my feelings either. If there poking chickens with sharp sticks to get their jollies, then that's messed up.

Since you are so knowledgable explain why I am an idiot for doing this and what I am missing from my diet .
He can't and won't. You may NEED a Vitamin D2 supplement and vit b12. Protein is obtained from nuts, beans, legumes, some leafy vegetables. Calories needed from protein 5-30% depending on whose research you read. 30% is standard American heart healthy number.
What you are going to miss is taste and deliciousness. Steak IS delicious. Cheese IS delicious. If you get passed that you are good. Everything else is just an excuse to continue to eat animal products because they are delicious. But to try to suggest a person can't live or thrive on a full blown vegan diet is just false. Therefore vegetarian as well.
Vegetarian can lean too heavily on cheeses etc. if so you are wasting time. Just liquid meat. And if you are vegan and all you eat are chips and guacamole all day you can be a fatty too.

It's part of the reason why I refuse to eat Tyson chicken
Why? You do realize that there are only a handful of companies that own the rights to every chicken farmer in America right? Tyson is one of them and the largest. All the others are the same. If you go by this logic, then you shouldnt eat chicken at all.

I know he can't and won't. It is just one of my pet peeves when people try to talk about something they don't know crap about. I have been eating a vegetarian diet with some eggs and cheese and daily protein shakes so there is nothing my diet is lacking in compared to someone eating meat.
