I am getting furniture delivered. Do I need to tip them?

I googled it and I found quite a wide variety of advice. Its a simple deliver (couch/chair). There will be little or no setup. First floor deliver, and the doors are super wide.

I do. Not to sound like a prick but who needs a few bucks more, you or them?

Unless of course they're incompetent or fricking pricks. I tip on quality of service. If it's good I will tip accordingly.

I tipped the guy who delivered my washer/dryer a cigarette. He seemed elated.

I think the PC thing to do is tip everyone. Every single person you do business with, tip them.

Of course. I do even though they are probably never expecting one from me. I like to shatter those stereotypes.

Yes. $20 total. Most places will pay them between $7-$10 depending on the price of your piece. Those guys get paid by bulk.

I did it for awhile.

Ordered a full living room set last summer. Sectional sofa, recliner, coffee table, end tables, lamps, rug, etc. The delivery guys set up everything for me. I did not have a problem giving them a $40 tip.

I feel like a dick after this thread. I usually over tip everywhere, but I didn't think tipping freight delivery guys was a thing. I guess i'll start tipping them as well.

What about UPS/FedEx delivery guys? Mailman? Yard Guys? Landscapers? Electricians? plumbers?

Hmmm...I never thought of tipping them when I had bedroom furniture delivered. I thought the $90 I paid for them covered that. After reading this thread, looks like I was an arse

ETA: Now I know for future deliveries

To me it depends on what they charged you to get the delivery.

It depends on what it is, how big the delivery is, how much work they have to do like climbing stairs or setting stuff up.

To me you just go what you think is right. If you see them sweating their arse off climbing stairs, you should do something. A tip, some water, a smoke, Gatorade, a beer.
