Carlos Slim, worth $79.6 billion, told a business conference in Paraguay that workers should work three days per week, 11 hours a day, and retire later
Slim: 'With three work days a week, we would have more time to relax; for quality of life.'
According to Forbes, Slim surpassed Bill Gates as the richest man in the world this week

I wonder what it must be like to hand out such noble advice and them fly away in my private jet to my own island? Also, Carlos Slim is the coolest name a billionaire could have

Would much rather work fewer days with longer hours.

I personally think the concept of a 40 hr work week is beyond stupid and counter productive. I think the American obsession with work contributes to reduced quality of life, stress related health issues, etc.
Think of how much time we waste bullshitting at work in a week. If your salary was based on the amount of work you did, rather than how many hours you worked, most people would handle their business so they could go on doing something else.

coincidently, that would happen if we had more money as well....
so Carlos, if you'd like to help with my "more time to relax, you know, for quality of life" fund, then send donations to:

FIFY
Also, my ideal job is working 4 10 hour shifts Mon-Thur. I feel like Fridays are the most wasteful workday of the week. If people aren't taking off or calling in, they're at their desk miserable waiting on the weekend

This right here.
However, the main agent of change on this would have to be on the employer side. They're the ones stuck on "hours" versus "work actually produced" for the most part.

because you need double the workforce
m,t,w

job demand increase, more people working
wages will increase as supply of labor, contracts

Nice thing about being at work is that it keeps you from spending money. For the people that don't make much money it would be really tough making ends meet while staying entertained for those 4 days off.

Does this guy actually practice what he preaches? I wonder what kind of work schedule his employees have.

Well I wouldn't work a god damned day if I had $80 billion.

Mostly because hours can be empirically and objectively measured.
Work produced is difficult to measure, and would require management actually being involved(or at least aware) in the day to day running of their fiefdoms.
