Not a huge fan of the NC style BBQ, . . .
I'm a big fan of brisket, so I generally prefer more TX stuff.
I can echo this. Tried NC BBQ while I lived there and didn't like it. Moved to TX and was intro'd to brisket, fell in love with it, and the honeymoon lives on!

You need to add Coopers in Llano to that short lists as well...
Ate at Cooper's in New Braunfels today. Had brisket and sausage. It was good but IMO a big drop-off from the Lockhart joints. Maybe the one in Llano is run better.
They use mesquite to smoke their meats. it gave their brisket a noticeably different flavor than the oak used in the Lockhart joints. I guess I could accept the difference but much of the brisket was excessively salty.
I don't plan to go back.

The Lano store is good. Never had a salt issue there. FWIW, I'd rather eat Bodacious.

I was in KC a couple months ago and ate at Oklahoma Joe's and Jack Stack. Oklahoma Joe's was very good, but IMO, Jack Stack was better.

Lexington bbq in nc.
We do this in every thread. Suuuuuuuuucks. Overrated and just not good. I lived there and just don't care for it. Personal preference.
I want real Kansas City stuff. That would be my Mecca.

Best BBQ in the state just opened a few months ago. NOLA Smokehouse. Go ASAP and get the Burnt end brisket. It Blows every other BBQ place around here out by miles
You're a dumbass. The burnt ends are okay. But The Joint shits on NOLA smokehouse and The Joint is not exactly world class. It's the best of a bad bunch.
ETA2: didn't realize this was a bumped thread. Well. At least I'm consistent.

Cooper's is nowhere near where it used to be. 2000-ish...sure I'd jump at the notion of going to Cooper's, now, woof.

I like Bodacious but like most BBQ joints, when they start getting multiple locations, the end result varies widely. Bodacious at the Kilgore exit I like. The Gladewater location and the one next to Harley's Liquor Store in Longview not so much.

Kilgore is the only one I've ever been in, but I've eaten it a dozen or more times.

Sticking to the East Texas area, Stanley's in Tyler is awesome. It was a nice little detour for my trips to BR from Dallas.

I felt the same way about Coopers. First bite of brisket was very good. But I it was way too salty to eat much more the that. And I love me some salt.
Eta I went to the Llano location

Franklin's beef brisket in Austin gets the most hype, but I have no reason to go to Austin.

There are plenty of reasons to go to austin. :)
