I don't understand why there isn't a greater push towards privatization of space travel/exploration. Elon Musk made SpaceX profitable within a few years after it was founded.

Yep.

I have a feeling people will still find a way to convince themselves of whatever convenient truths they find comforting.

Then what?

I'm guessing the military industrial complex would see that our world resources are focused on figuring out how to get to said planet, and also conquering it. It would be a ramp up that would span many generations.

No, he just gutted it. Hence the wild speculation. Money.

That's one of the main goals of Elon Musk. Big reason for SpaceX and their future goals.

NASA can't compete with private industries that are able to innovate for much cheaper. Space X's contract with the government is 90% cheaper than what it would cost for NASA.

Firefly Space Systems is a company that's planning on launching satellites for 7-10 million dollars. While similar space missions like that used to cost hundreds of millions.

Private companies innovate just as well as NASA. The main difference is their ability to implement innovations at a much faster pace. NASA has to deal with a lot of bureaucratic bull. They need some major changes, if not these private companies will leave them in the dust within the next 20 years

You are waaay behind on this. Haven't you heard of heaven? We believe Heaven to be an actual place. It's out there somewhere. As a Christian I can accept that we can coexist with another planet earth inhabited with sinners OR we have proof that heaven exists.

Sometimes you guys just aren't too bright!

Anyone with a brain stem knows we are not alone! 20 years what are these people taking? The real question is why haven't they revealed themselves to us; or have they?

What if contact is made with a planet that we know can't support humanoid life? Maybe it's a Skynet situation. I think contact made by AI is highly probable. If contact is made at all.

Space travel outside the moon would cost trillions with a T. The richest man in the world is only worth 80 billion.

Because they completely throw out the laws of physics that people who hate on religion cling to.
