Dudes- y'all would've been first against the wall! Cheeses look good though.

I confess I am uncertain why this is front page above the fold on nola.com? Hard-hitting news here, folks.

I still don't understand the appeal to seersucker and bow ties.

I know it cracks me up. And all the $40K millionaires have jumped on the bandwagon. I know guys working random office jobs for state bureacracies wearing Perlis bow ties. Not to mention the Abita Seersucker Pils.

Southern ladies love the seersucker.

I know who many of the people are in the photos and the OP has them aptly characterized.

I know a bunch of 'em as well. One of the women in the pictures is good friends with glassman's ex-wife (and a good family friend as well).

I mean, given the option, I'd rather have money than self-awareness any day.

My wife thinks the exact opposite.

Really? I've always loved it,love the fabric, love the look. Every woman I know adores it. I assumed it was ingrained in our DNA .
Unfortunately, no matter how much I have tried my husband won't touch it.

I've been trying to find a gray seersucker suit instead of the usual light blue. They're scarcer than rich people with self-awareness.

My wife's response to seersucker.

honestly, you either look like you s ing in a barbershop quartet, or like you are auditioning for the colonel w/ KFC.
I honestly think it looks a little childish.
and if I were still single, and some dude came to pick me up in a seer sucker suit, I'd probably write him off as a total frattastic douche face and never see him again
Personally, i think it makes grown men look like chidren, and young adults look like they are trying their hardest to be pretentious.
FWIW, i have friends that wear it. They are good people, i just despise the look. It's the opposite of the strong male look, IMO.

The French Revolution wasn't a rejection of the rich, it was a rejection of the aristocracy. Also the French Revolution was made up of various episodes and you're focusing on the Reign of Terror which lasted about a year. Many of the revolutionaries were the bourgeoisie and, in fact, the real force behind the revolution.

OK, now that's funny!
I have to erase that from my memory now so that my seersucker love Isn't negatively impacted.

Yeah this is partly true and I was hoping no one would call me on it. Those guys lost control with a quickness though.
Although I think the argument could be made that the seersucker/Galatoires/uptown landowner class is closer to aristocracy than bourgeoisie. I just don't feel like making it.
ETA: Also, hi Prof. Martin!

Are bama bangs getting more popular in S. LA or just among the elite classes of NOLA?
